I'm seeing more and more little purplish discolored spots all over my car. I can see some little spots on the windshield and rubber moldings too. Its even on the side of the doors and on the back hatch in spots. I can see little tiny specks of something in the middle of it. Sometimes I can pick it off. Is this from the road or from like rail dust or something? Or just a contaminated paintjob? Will clay take this out? I showed my dealer and they are trying to say its road crap. to clay it out. I'll try to post a close up pic tommorow. (this is kind of crazy, the car is only 3 weeks old. i noticed it after about a week. I think like after I washed and waxed at my dads house using his well water, could this be part of it? I used Mequiers Tech Wax) Help!
I would suggest starting with a clay bar... Now, if you've washed it in well water (and I speak from experience) you stand a good chance of getting plenty of waterspots on the car. But they wouldn't have anything sticking up in the center that you could remove. So I'm possibly thinking it could be rail dust, or something to that effect.

CLAY BAR! That will take off nearly everything. My neighbor sprayed the side of my Vibe with his sprinkler and there was fertilizer in it and it left a lot of discolored waterspots on my car and the clay bar took it off. It takes a while to do it correctly, but it is well worth it. It takes all the impurities out the the paint (works on glass too). Give that a shot and let us know if it works.

I tried the clay, it works somewhat however slowly on the metal, but not too well on the plastic painted surfaces, using the clay seems like its started to fade the faint on the plastic. I guess I can get it off the metal surfaces and the glass but its going to take ALOT of clay and alot of lubricant. Here's some pics. Let me know what you think
some of those look like chips? Hmmm... well hard to tell without seeing in person... could someone have gotten something on your paint? overspray or anything like that?

no, its not chips, its like a little spec of dirt or something similar and when it sits on there long enough its leaves a little purplish spot around it, I can remove the spec with the clay but the circle doesnt seem to want to come off too easily. The first pic is the black molding above the driver door, so it can really be a chip.
While I was having my Vibe serviced I killed the waiting time reading the owner's manual. It states that if there are any chemical discolorations(not exactly sure what they mean) in the first 12 months or 12,000 miles, that they will repair them for free.

It looks like overspray of some sort. It could be from someone spray painting thier house or other objects to garden spray of insecticide or fertilizer. I can't be certain from the pics but have four years as an auto detailer. Keep using the clay. A little secret to using the clay is to use alot of liquid. I did a car with insecticide overspray that took two days. My arms and hands killed.
