I have the Adelphia HD DVR and I connected it with a DVI connector. I don't know what Comcast uses, but I would think it would have a DVI or HDMI connection, in addition to an HD component output as well. If the digital connection isn't what your TV has, DVI or HDMI, you can buy adapters to change it to what you need. What kind of HD package does Comcast have? My only option is Adelphia or satellite and my Adpelphia HD selection is very limited. I get my local channels (FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS), a HBO HD, and a Starz HD channel. That is it. Is Comcast just as limited or do they have a better selection?

My TV has HDMI and DVI connectors, from what I understand HDMI is the best quality, but I'm confused. I'm a nerd for electronics and stuff but the HD stuff is all new to me.Comcast has ESPNHD and DiscoveryHD as well as all the ones you listed, there are a few others, but I don't have the listing in front of me.Thanks for the input by the way.

Well, I just picked up the HD box on my lunch break and they gave me the component wires. I may just try those for now and maybe, if I'm feeling crazy I'll get the DVI. There is no HDMI coming out of the box, but my surround sound (coming next week) has the HDMI hookup so I may just wait until then. Thanks for the help.

I have both the component and DVI cables connected to my TV. When changing inputs, there isn't that much of a difference between the two. DVI is a little crisper since it's a digital connection, but it's not like it is a big, obvious difference. If you need a DVI or HDMI cable, definitely shop online. Most retail stores sell them way over priced. When I worked at Best Buy a couple years ago, the cables that cost around $100 were only around $30 at employee cost, which is 10% above cost.

I think I am going to get the DVI to HDMI cable. Since the screen is so big (61") a small difference on a smaller TV will be a big difference on a big TV. Now to order the NHL Center Ice package and sit around and watch some hockey (soon).

I have a Samsung DLP TV and don't see any difference with the HDMI and DVI connectors. I use the HMDI for my Samsung Over-the-Air Digital TV Receiver and DVI to my Samsung HD-Conversion DVD Player. I"m just waiting for DISH Network. They will be moving to MPEG-4 Layer 10, H.264 (also called MPEG-4 AVC) compression for their HD channels. I been with Dish for 8 years now.

There's actually no difference, technically. They're both a digital video carrier the primary difference is that HDMI also carries digital audio. Using DVI will require use of seperate analog audio unless your equipment is capable of digital audio via coax or TOSLink. My Toshiba only has the HDMI input. It's a 3-Gun projection though so I think that decision was made to keep people from plugging a computer in and burning the CRT's.OK, not that it really applied since Mr P has already stated that his box doesn't have HDMI, I just thought I'd throw that out there.

I am going to get a DVI to HDMI cable after work today and check it out. Hopefully, I have a few minutes to check out HD before I have to go meet with the priest. YIPEE..

I got the Samsung 46" DLP and at the time they didn't have the HD tuner. A month later I bought a HD Terrestrial Tuner. I'm sure yours looks similar to my small 46".

Hey raser, got a question for ya. How do you get the non-hd channels to show up @ 16:9 aspect ratio? I cannot figure it out at all.
