Bought a Mazda 6

Post by goodvibe »

I'm no longer in the fold but I'll check back pretty often. I did my research and test drives and ended with a used 05 Mazda 6 Grand touring Touring with extras. This baby's loaded with leather, moon-roof and pretty much whatever you can think of. 10k mi and $19k. I wanted a stick but couldn't find one and was going to buy a much cheaper 04 after driving an 05 to see what the 6 was like. Well after driving the 04. I found the 04 auto tranny is everything I don't like about autos so I just bit the bullet and bought the only 05 I could find used the day it showed up in a dealers inventory and still saved a few grand over a new base model. The 05 auto tranny is actually not bad at all and the triptronic feature though obviously not like a real stick will at least let me find a gear easily if I want to. It is also lots more durable than the tranny it replaced. Apperantly a 05 stock 3.0 liter auto can break 16 sec. in the quarter but I'll never find out. I also drove a few 3s and they're nice torquey cars but unrefined in comparison. I liked my modded GT better but it would be a good stock purchase if it were only a bit larger. I would probably get it over a stock Vibe if interior space and price wasn't a concern. 3s don't improve from suspension tweaks the way our cars do but then it's not as needed either. The 6 reminds me of my brothers Audi A4 with a hair less direct steering and road feel but as composed with a smoother feel.

I looked at a "NEW" 2004 Mazda 3. New ? yep, they had a 2004 with 15 miles on it. thought about making a deal, but then thought about it being a 'new' two model year old car. However, I did end up with a Vibe.

the mazda speed6 is AWD turbo in jap i think they are brining it over for 06, ive seen it online then at the MN car show..bad (removed) car, they are also doing the mazda speed3 awd turbo. i love the mazda 6/3 they are nice cars, i looked at them before the vibe but they were a little out of my price range, you know that that engine is a ford duratec, i had it in my merc sable except they put vvt in on the mazda and new fords and some other things to give it that extra 20hp :D

The motor has shown low wear #s on the oil boards regardless of oil type or viscosity and seems pretty reliable in general. trdvibe, those Subaru Turbo motors are among the best wearing motors ever. It will outlast the rest of your car. Here's a link to the car. White's not my first choice but it will do. Roof rack and roof lip extension. Kind odd combo but it looks OK. I'm glad it's got the rack. Invaluable when you need it. I'm probably one the few that actually used the rack on the Vibe. http://www.theautobarn.com/use...hcp=1
