Based on my calculations we are paying 3.37$ US a gallon!! OUCH!(Calculation is as follows: converted 1.08$ Can to USD which according to Yahoo Finance is around .89$USD. A US Gallon is 3.79 litres so .89$ * 3.79 is 3.37$)

I hate news articles like this canada, canadian search engine, free email, canada news Tuesday » August 9 » 2005 $1.08 a litre and climbingDemand surging; You'll pay $1.14 by month's end, station manager says DEBBIE PARKES of The Gazette contributed to this reportThe Gazette; CanWest News Service; Calgary Herald contributed to this reportAugust 9, 2005Gas prices in Montreal reached an all-time high of $1.084/10 for a litre of regular unleaded yesterday, leaving motorists with little hope that under-a-dollar prices will be back anytime soon."The psychological barrier of $1 (a litre) has been broken forever," said a glum-looking Yvon Soucy as he filled up his SUV at the corner of Sherbrooke St. and St. Laurent Blvd., one of the last stations on the island to raise its price. It was just after 7 p.m. and the posted price at that station was $1.004/10 cents a litre. But it wasn't to last: At 7:40 p.m., the outlet's manager, Chadi Haddad, had received the expected phone call from Toronto telling him to put his price up eight cents."It's my personal opinion that between now and the end of August the price will go up to $1.14 a litre," Haddad said yesterday. And even after that, they'll keep climbing, he predicted.Though the price surge over the past months has come on fears that demand may soon exceed supply as booming economies in the United States, India and China strain the ability of producers to boost output, yesterday's rise came on more immediate fears. The United States closed its embassies and consulates in Saudi Arabia - the world's largest oil producer - after warnings that terrorists could mount attacks on the buildings. Many in the oil market have fretted about the stability of Saudi Arabia after the death of King Fahd this month, which has raised concerns about instability and renewed attacks on oil installations in the country. However, some analysts discounted worries that attacks on diplomatic compounds equalled a threat to oil supplies."The last time I looked, the U.S. embassy in Saudi Arabia wasn't a large oil producer," said Kyle Cooper, an energy analyst with Citigroup Global Markets in Houston. "But this just again highlights the fears that are out there in the market."Oil for September delivery rocketed $1.63 U.S. to $63.94 a barrel in New York Mercantile Exchange trading, touching $64 during the course of the day's trading. Since the start of the year, the price of the commodity has risen 52 per cent and the market is calling for yet more increases. Oil for delivery in later months is even more expensive, with the price of a barrel to be handed over early next year topping $66.Prices also rose on worries that U.S. gasoline supplies would be threatened by the temporary closings of some U.S. refineries. But despite the shutdown of refining facilities in Oklahoma, Texas and California, stockpiles of gasoline remain near their average over the past five years and the refining industry has always been able to meet demand for fuel from drivers."The refining industry in the U.S. has not only been able to meet demand, it's been able to exceed it and have inventories rise," Cooper said. "To me (the worries about supplies) just indicate that there is fear out there."When commodity prices are higher for delivery in future months than spot prices, it's a situation called 'contango' by traders and normally occurs only when the spot prices are thought to have bottomed out, not when the commodity is already trading for record prices. But the current market has puzzled many analysts who've expected prices to fall back as OPEC boosts production and new supplies come on the market from the Gulf of Mexico and elsewhere. News of new supplies and new discoveries is often ignored by oil traders, who are focused on potential threats to oil supplies, even if those fears are never realized."There are (many) people in the market betting on higher prices next year and beyond," said Judith Dwarkin, chief economist for Ross Smith Energy Group in Calgary. "That's even though logic should dictate lower average prices next year and lower volatility."Dwarkin said growth in demand is slowing and the global economy should cool next year while new oil supplies are coming on to the market.Still, rising oil prices also helped boost the shares of oil companies. Petro-Canada, Imperial Oil Ltd., Suncor Energy Inc., Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. and Husky Energy Inc. were among a number of Canadian oil producers whose shares reached record highs Monday. The Canadian average price per litre yesterday was reported to be 97.3 cents compared to 83.5 cents a year earlier - a 16-per-cent increase. The site doesn't include Quebec figures, however. In Newfoundland yesterday, the price at the pump hovered around $1.005/10 cents a litre, whereas in Toronto and Calgary, it could still be found at about 90 cents a litre, according to a Web site that monitors gas prices. On the Net: http://www.gasbuddy.com© The Gazette (Montreal) 2005

$2.54 for premium here... would be pretty respectable without the taxes. I believe Nebraska taxes at 41 cents a gallon.

Some of the "Holiday" gas stations around here have regular gas (87oc) and "supra" (90oc) for the same price.I'm not sure why you'd use 87 instead of 90 when they're the same price - but I didn't see a single person pump the midgrade when I was filling up.I was standing behind a Tahoe owner who was charging his $48 87octane gas bill, and I told the lady at the counter that I appreciate getting 90 octane for the same price as regular...He was pissed. I told him he's got to open his eyes and pay attention to things like this.

Just jumped to 2.49 in Minneapolis on Thursday. I believe it was around 2.17 just 2 or 3 weeks ago. A trucker sent this in to the radio morning show I listen to, and this was before the prices just jumped again. He fills up his truck 2-3 times per week!

I'm really starting to wonder if the oil companies are taking advantage of Americans' complacency (thus far) about the price of gas and just keep raising it. James and I filled up in Springfield yesterday on the way back from Columbus, and it was $2.42. I haven't been out or near a gas station today to see what it is here today, but it was $2.55 when I filled up before the meet, and it wasn't good gas either...ran through the Vibe on the highway at 32 mpg, and that's in a Vibe that normally gets 40 on the highway. What we got in Springfield was much better, as my gas gauge has hardly moved (thank goodness). Don't think I'll be going much of anywhere this week if it's $2.69.

I heard on the radio the gaz was 1.349 at Montreal and was coming like that at Quebec, I jumped in my car and went to my Shell for a last full of V-Power at 1.159 before they rise it. now it's 1.409 for V-Power... I think I will come back to regular. I know I can drive longer with premium, but my wallet can't take it...

How does it differ from Shell's other fuels? * Shell V‑Power is Shell's premium-grade gasoline. It is a unique fuel formulation designed to help remove power-robbing deposits from the engine, allowing it to run smoother, and to help improve performance. Our value proposition to customers is "Fill up with Shell V‑Power to help clean your engine as you drive."How does Shell V‑Power help protect the engine? * Ordinary gasolines can cause the build-up of performance robbing deposits in the engine. Shell V‑Power is designed to help prevent this. The excellent cleaning properties of Shell V‑Power help most vehicles operate better by reducing these deposits in the intake system. How does Shell's link with the Ferrari F1 Racing Team relate to Shell V‑Power? * The global team that formulates racing fuels for Ferrari helped develop Shell V‑Power. Our unique formulation is the result of applying Shell's global technical expertise and experience in developing fuels for Ferrari Formula One. We are then able to use this expertise in Canada. * Powering and protecting Ferrari road cars and its racing operations, Shell global products were used in the very first Ferrari cars and global Shell companies played a key role in Ferrari's first Formula One appearance in 1950.Are Shell fuels really developed with Ferrari? * Yes, Shell's global developments in fuel and oil tested in Ferrari's Formula One cars are transferred to Ferrari road cars and to Shell stations everywhere. * A team of more than 40 Shell people worldwide are involved in the Formula One program to support Ferrari. They supply 250,000 litres of fuel and 40 tonnes of lubricants per year to race and test tracks around the world. This technical knowledge has been applied to Shell V‑Power so ordinary drivers here in Canada can enjoy many of the same benefits. How was Shell V‑Power developed and tested? * Shell V‑Power has been lab tested using engine test beds and in vehicles on chassis dynamometers ("rolling roads"), as well as in actual on-road conditions in Canada. Shell V‑Power uses the best technical advice of our Canadian and global fuel experts. Why is Shell V‑Power more expensive than conventional fuels? * Shell V‑Power is a premium octane gasoline that costs more to manufacture than regular octane gasoline. As such, it is priced competitively among premium fuels.Where do the deposits go? * Shell's gasoline helps remove the normal build-up of deposits from vehicle intake systems. During routine driving, small amounts of the deposits are continually dissolved, enter the combustion chamber, and are consumed in the combustion process. What effect will this fuel have on the environment? * Since Shell V‑Power helps performance, it generally improves engine efficiency, so reduces fuel consumption and leads to fewer emissions. What is the difference between Shell Bronze and Shell V‑Power? * Shell injects an exclusive, proprietary deposit control additive (DCA) into our gasoline at the point of distribution, which exceeds the CGSB gasoline standards. Shell's DCA: o helps prevent deposits forming on engine components o reduces deposits in the fuel system o helps keep the intake system clean o helps prevent fuel related corrosion * The same DCA is injected into both Shell V‑Power and Shell Bronze. Twice as much of the DCA is injected into Shell V‑Power. *CGSB is the Canadian General Standards Board that develops Fuel Standards for Canada. What is the difference between Shell V‑Power and our competitor's premium fuel? * The testing and performance evaluations of Shell V‑Power did not directly compare Shell's premium to the competition's premium. The testing did however use Shell V‑Power to clean up the deposits caused by a base gasoline injected with the lowest allowable concentration of deposit control additive as specified in CGSB* gasoline standards. These results were very positive and demonstrated Shell V‑Power's ability to help clean the engine and help deliver improved performance while driving. * CGSB is the Canadian General Standards Board that develops Fuel Standards for Canada.Do you really need to use Shell V‑Power all the time? * Shell V‑Power can not only help clean up existing power robbing deposits from your engine, it can also help keep it clean. Shell V‑Power can help improve performance and help provide power when you need it. Continued use helps the engine perform at its best. It will help keep new cars in good condition and help to restore performance in older cars by removing inlet system deposits. However the benefits may vary from car to car dependent upon driving style, maintenance, and other fuel usage. What happens after the 5th fill? Do you keep on cleaning your engine or does it plateau? Is that as clean as it's going to get? * Our tests show that clean up continues after the 5th fill. For full performance benefits to be realised, customers should use Shell V‑Power with its very effective detergent additive, on a sustained basis.

cool info Sam, didn't know all that. on highway driving, I can drive 50 km more with V-Power than regular, so for the .06$ in defference, it worth it. plus, my engine sounds better with V-Power than with regular...
