Parking Light wire anyone???

Hello again all!Ok, well I looked through ALL 18 pages of the "Audio, Electronics, Electrical" and the 3 pages of the Tech Info forums. I could not find any topics, for the parking light wire(s). I did, however, find a lot of nice topics. Never woulda guessed there was actually a panic function on my OEM keyless entry, remote. Thanks GMJAP!Now, the reason for this post. I recently installed an Aftermarkt Generation FM Alarm (AGA1101). I've skipped a few things to install, due to laziness, wanting to get the "basic" alarm system in, and no idea how to install a relay that came with it. The problem I have, that I don't want to skip and leave out, is the parking light wire. I have installed and tested the alarm's basic functions (door opening and shock sensor/valet switch), but, am at a loss as to where the parking light wire is. I've tested every wire harness in the driver's kick panel and the steering colum. When I test the wires, I ground the common, of the multitester and touch every terminal, with the positive (keeping its harness connected). I'd try this with the parking lights on and then off. I've found ONE wire that gives me a response. The response I get is not a +12v though. Actually I get a reading of +13v+up, with the lights off an ignition off as well, and then nothing, almost, when I turn the lights on.This is very frustrating as the alarm system needs to connect to a +/-12v, when the parking lights are ON, not off.I found a wiring diagram from a post here and the same one here: http://www.directechs.com/dire...tart#I will also be making a post for my window roll-up feature.Thank you all for any help.-James

So wait...are you trying to turn on the parking lights with the alarm?The parking lights are ground-switched. Not +12v. So your alarm needs to be able to send Ground to the parking light wire.The wire is in a harness in the steering column. Remove the bottom of the column. I believe it's a green wire with a white stripe.To test it, put your meter in 'Continuity' mode, so it beeps when you complete a circuit. Put one wire to ground, and put the other to green/white. If you turn the parking lights on, you'll hear it beep.

There is an option to set the polarity output, of the system, to -12v.I've seen that wire. When I got to the harness, I didn't read anything. I'll read the manual to figure out how to set it to continuity. (brand new tester)

Sorry, retardedness runs in my bloodline!I meant to say that, when I test that green/white wire I don't read anything, on the tester. With the lights on or off.

Just as they do when I use my keyless entry, lock/unlock feature.Nother question, should I find and disable the OEM keyless entry receiver? Whatcha think?

I was figuring that if I grounded out the line, I get a nice bit of fireworks and melt something to something. Apparently not. No, leave the factory KE system connected. Not worth the hassle involved to get to and disconnect it. And there's no reason to disconnect it.

Glad you found it! Sorry, didn't realize it was a new tester and you weren't familiar with it.As far as the stock KE goes, just leave it as-is. It won't interfere with the alarm unless you try to use it. I had to use mine as a backup lock/unlock when my alarm remote went stupid for a day. That, and the factory keyless module is a little stupid to get to..
