I have less than a 1000 kms. left on my original warranty. A friend indicates that his Chrysler dealer will go over his cars completely just prior to the warranty expiry. My Pontiac dealer has stonewalled me on this in the past, instead insisting on a "safety check" inspection at my expense. What are people's thoughts on this. What should I have checked before that perilous expiry? I have only had the battery replaced and also an adjustment to the passenger window parts because of a grating problem.

I had a problem with wear on the gasket or weatherstripping on the driver door frame, and got that fixed as my warranty was about to expire. There is the TSB for the sandblasted cladding, if you have the unpainted cladding you might want to check it out to see if you are getting abnormal wear on that. Mine still doesn't have that problem. There is supposed to be a TSB that just came out about power windows clicking and binding, might be worth looking into. Maybe your windows grating problem was the same thing and they already fixed it.Some people have had rust problems show up around the weatherstrip for the hatch glass, check that out on yours.I woulnd't expect the dealer to provide a free inspection as warranty was about to expire. If that is Chrylser standard policy, then that's pretty cool, but it's not GM/Pontiac policy. Maybe your friend has found a uniquely good dealer service department.
