Does anyone know where the AMP is located with the Moon & Tunes package. I want to see if there is a way to wire my iPod into it downstream of the radio.ThanksBill
Yes but all the reviews I have read so far indicates some quality problems and having to hunt for the right location. The Vibe antenna is located at the rear of the car and that may be contributing to it.
What I would really like is the new Delphi MP3 player that replaces the existing CD. The sound quality is OK for me with the Moon & Tunes set up. My ears can't hear a lot better than that.
If you remplace the stock head unit, you could have some distortion trouble cause the head unit with the 200w amp is only a pre-amp. You'll have to use the pre-amp output of your new head unit instead of the amplified output.

My experience with some factory amps is that the pre-amp outputs of some aftermarket headunits are too weak to drive the factory amp (my 328is in particular)...

I'm not 100% sure, but most of the people who change the head unit coming with the moon and tune are complaining about distorting while turn up the volume at more then 50%. The pre-amp hypothesis is the most logical.
If I can figure a way to get the iPod input, it should act as a pretty good pre-amp. The challenge may be getting the amp powered. I don't have a wirng diagram but I suspect that by turning the radio on to CD with no CD would power the amp. The iPod would have to be used to control volume.
Easier said than done! The amp has two plugs. One with 8 wires and the other with 17 wires. It would be difficult to figure what does what without a wiring diagra.
