I'm happy for you! I want a new phone SO bad--I do NOT like the one I have, and have been looking at an LG VX6100 I think. It's between that and the 7100...can't decide! So I'll do the happy dance for you, and you can do one for me if I ever replace my piece of crap!
New phones are always cool... I can't wait to get a new one when my contract runs out in October! I have been looking at the Motorola Razr phones (black, not silver) with the Bluetooth headset.

my big dissappointment with verizon has been that their bluetooth phones only have limited bluetooth and you can't use the phones for an internet modem for a laptop.

My dad has an LG, not sure what model. But he spent like $50 for a universal cell phone adapter for his laptop. It then recognizes it as a modem. Unfortunately we found out later that the tower isn't data1x capable yet so he can't use it here. Anyway #777 will get you access to the internet once it's recognized as a modem. My understanding is it's free too unless you go in and request the service then they add it to your bill.So even though the phone won't work as a bluetooth modem you still have options.
Looks like the display is crisp with large font, I bet the speaker has a good clear sound.I had a Treo 600 for a couple year and went back to a regular style phone. A couple months ago I bought a Sanyo MM-5600. I have almost everything I need in one package - mp3's, messaging, web, video, Sprint TV, photo (1.3 megapixel) and voice recording.

yah that speaker is awesome, actually that's the main feature that i wanted it for because it's sooo loud that i know it'll wake me up in the middle of the night when the army decides for me to do a recall formation

I love it except for one thing. They have a camera button on the side and if you don't have a leather case with swivel clip it will be taking pictures all day long if it keeps getting pressed in. I had it in the clip it came with and just driving home I took 12 close up pictures of the side of my center console. It will eat up memory and battery time. Since I got the leather case I have had zero pictures accidentally taken. Other than that, this phone rocks!

I have a Samsung a670 camera phone and I have the same problem when I wear it on a belt clip... the external camera buttom gets pushed constantly and now I have 40 blurred pics of who knows what??? When I want to take an actual picture, I have to delete a few of the random shots just to make room! but as far as the phone... I like it alot better than the crappy, weak@$$, can't-get-a-signal, drop-every-call, junky motorola I had previously... couldn't wait for that contract to run out!

I left Cingu-crap, breaking my contract over a year early because the service was SO horrendous. I got the Motorola e815. Our good friend Jahntassa has the same phone, and showed me that every phone is "hackable," and he has shown me the way to fix my phone so it uses full bluetooth capabilites. While I don't have a bluetooth receiver *yet* for my PC, I know it will work when I get it. And I have been uploading/downloading my address book, images, and ringtones to and from my phone since day 1.I also purchased a 128mb trans-flash card that basically lets me store tons of mp3s and pictures on a mini card that i can yank, put in a SD card adapter (basically a shell of an SD card that has a slot for the trans flash card) and stick THAt into a card reader on my PC, and upload/download as if it were a digital camera. This phone is phricken amazing!By the way, VCAST is awesome.

I have been very happy with my LG4400 through Verizon. My contract is up in November, so I'll be studying phones over the next few months.I've read people say that most of the LG phones since the 4400 haven't been all that great. Can't comment from experience. I've read great things about the Motorolla 815.Here's a great source for great information on both phones and providers: http://www.howardforums.com
I have a Cingular phone thats now broken. Screen dosent work, cant access my menus cause the screen is black and cant see. It $50 deductible to get a new phone. Whats the point in having insurance?

I just picked up a Nokia 6255i last weekend to replace my LG LX5550 (which saw it's demise from being dropped a few too many times unfortunately). The 6255i:I've always been partial to the Nokia's since I've use them primarily for work as well. Good interface and nice solid phone. Bluetooth, 1+ MP camera with video feature, MP3 player, FM radio tuner.
Those are nice phones. I was looking at them, but I never had any luck with LG phones. I decided to go with the Sony-Ericsson K700i, also a VERY nice phone/MP3 player/FM radio.

I tried LG once and Samsung. Hated both. Have only ever owned Motorolas, and, despite the fact they ARE a tad buggy, I plan to stick with them in the long run.

Btw, for those who never have seen the new trans-flash technology, take a look. These cards are fricken SMALL!!!!In comparison to your everyday subway token:

Quote, originally posted by jwalcik »...when verizon first released the motorola v720 and everyone discovered that they'd crippled the phone...I had the v720 and it was the worst phone I've ever owned... crippled it? hell.. I think they removed the antenna, because I couldn't get a signal (usually just one bar if that!) or hold a call on the damn thing. Had it replaced twice, and each one was equally crappy. I'll never go with another motorola product because of that P.O.S.!
Thanks for the tip BC! I will definitely take that into consideration and get a leather case! It all depends on if my boyfriend can get two phones when his contract is up...I have a ways to go yet on mine so it would be too expensive for me to get the phone now. But his is up in a couple weeks and he's planning on getting a new phone. If they'll let him get the 6100 fairly cheap, for me, then I'll do it. I liked all the features that one had, and he has loved all his LG's. Just do NOT get the Kyocera slider. I thought it was cool for about a week, but now I hate it. But I don't need all the bells and whistles on a phone--I just want one that works for me when I need it to! Thank you for the tip! And lucky for you you've got such a good lookin' center console to be taking pictures of!
ive had the same nokia for like 2.5 yrs now, with no major issues! sure, the paint at the top is coming off and it only has a 1 color screen, but it aint broke, so i aint gonna fix it

i have to say this.... i change my phones about every 2-3 months. i am a phone fanatic. i used to have sprint and was ok, but CDMA(aka verizon/sprint) phone have horiblle battery life. i moved to att and then migrate to cingular. all of you have say that cingular and whatever service sucks, stop being cheap and get those free phones. they are garbage. sorry.. speind some money on a nokia or in some cases some motos and samsungs. i had the low end vxxx motos and they are garbage. the v551 i have now is garbage in receiption. i need it since is quadband and i go to EU from time to time. i prefer nokia and onces the 6270 is out i will jump on it. also i would never go back to sprint nor verizon. is a migth of their coverage. i had various people say how good verizon is and then with time they start to realize is not all that and is very limited. i love the sim and world roaming feature of gsm. never will i go back from a non gms carrier...
I had Sprint, Cingular, AT&T, and now I'm with Verizon. Cingular/ATT coverage was HORRENDOUS! Their customer service was even worse. I spent 300 bucks on one of their higher-end phones. It was all crap. I cancelled my contract a year early and shelled out $150 ETF because I was so fed up with Cingu-crap. I'm now a 100% satisfied Verizon convert. I paid only $99 for an e815, and the coverage is phenomenal.GSM isn't all it's cracked up to be.

the reasonGSM isn't all it's cracked up to be is its not everywhere in the United States. However if you were to take your GSM phone over to Europe it would work wonderfully

Quote, originally posted by ragingfish »GSM isn't all it's cracked up to be. GSM irritates me... Is it just me, or does every friggin' GSM phone wreak havoc on ANYTHING with a speaker that may be in close proximity to the phone? Radios, TV's, computer speakers, etc... Just try to dial out and have a pair of computer speakers nearby, that loud fart sound and various other nasty interference noises. It really sucks since the friggin' neighbor apparently has a GMS phone and she leaves it in her bedroom which backs up to my bedroom. There are always random farts that come through at various times to my clock radio (I leave it turned on so I can listen to Sirius as I doze) and through the comptuer speakers beside the bed as well... And it's woke me up from the dead a few times when she actually received a call. CDMA phones don't seem to cause these various disturbances. Anyway, I'm with jeffgtx, when you find a good phone that works, stay with it. They're gonna have to pry my huge honkin' Sanyo phone out of my cold, dead hands. They don't make one this sturdy anymore - this thing has been through hell and back, and few if any blemishes to prove that. Screw the tiny little phones that are all cute, take pics, you can cruise dirty web sites while listening to mp3z and playing games while text messaging people all day. I just want a phone I can keep up with that I can use to, um, talk to people! That's quite a concept that the fone guys seem to have forgotten. Screw the extras, I want to talk on the darn thing, that's that.
