Ok so as most of you know I got into a car accident so I have been looking around at different cars (not another Vibe) but staying in the GM family. So on Sunday I went to my local Pontiac dealership after they closed to avoid people. So im looking around then I see a G6 but when I get close to it I notice its a GXP . I didnt even know they where out. I tried to go on Pontiac.com and there is no info on a GXP. I tried searching different sites for info on the GXP and some sites say it has a 3.5L making 275hp another site said it was a 3.9L Supercharged making around 280hp.. So Im confused. Anyone have some info? I hadnt thought about the G6 so I dont know much about it and the searches online have said different things. Anyone know? Could I have been imagining and seen a GTP?

The GTP was in the 2006 G6 brochure I looked at when I had the Vibe in the shop for the most recent visit... I remember seeing the GTP because I saw the return of good ol' hydraulic power steering on the specs, not the electric crap.

Yes, it was your imagination. The only GXP out in production now is the Grand Prix. You *could* have seen a Bonneville GXP, but if you did, that was certainly a leftover, as the Bonneville was asked after the 05 MY.The G6 coupe is available in GTP trim, which has a 3.9L V6 with 240 hp. A GTP sedan is forthcoming, not sure when it comes out (it could already be out frankly).the GXP will likely never make it past concept form. Pontiac seriously dropped the ball on the GXP program. And I'm 99% positive a GXP coupe has not even made it to the concept stage yet. I've only read and seen a GXP sedan.

Nothing to laugh at, but nothing to applaud either. I would've personally made the GXP a 300+ horse machine...

I'd like to get some paint in that color to paint my house, whenever I get a house! On the outside of course, to (removed) off all the neighbors! That thing's just bad (removed)!

Opps my bad I had to go back to the dealer to re-check again and it must have been late. Its a GTP its nice though. I like it. It was going for $26,000+ I think with the GM employee discount and a $2,000 cash back the guy told me it would be like a high $21,000 or $22,000 but only with a regular GM employee discount because the one thats available to everyone only applies to the 05's. I really liked the car but I think I would get a 4 door. The pain in the (removed) to let people in and out on a 2 door just sucks!

BUT, the G6 coupe is quite a looker, and makes me wonder...The high price tag though...that's making me wary. I can get more doors for less.

not to be a total idiot but, whats the difference between a gtp and a gxp? ive seen the them on the grand prix and the gxp looked better with the sweet looking hood but i never was totally up on what else was the difference.
GTP these days is what GT used to be -- higher horsepower, better suspension, etc. etc.GXP is traditionally reserved for concepts, but in the case of the Bonneville and the Grand Prix, is reserved for the highest model available. The most power, the coolest features, and of course, the highest pricetag.

Quote, originally posted by northvibe »but arent the GTP's super charged? my friend had a gtp grand prix 4door that was S/C. the GXP had a bigger engine i assume with a s/c?not necessarily.the G6 GTP coupe simply gives you the 3900 engine instead of the 3500.in the case of the grand prix, yes, the GTP is a 3800 series III with a s/c, while the GXP is the 5.3L 303hp LS4.

exactly, you'd think like all the chevy SS would be s/c or something but only "most" of them are. and for the pontiac they should have a gtp thingy be for if its s/c or whatever and gxp for a uber huge engine and gt for the sporty of standard. I still am wondering why they arent shipping some vibes with s/c or ram air. wow sorry to hijack the thread :S. but i was looking in my engine compartment yesterday as i did my a/c insulation mod and found where the tube from the air box is (near the front driver head light) it would be so easy to get a ram air hood and route the air to that tube and it would look sweet. COME ON PONITAC we want the vibe to stand out and be sporty.

what a great pic!yea teh GP GXP is tha bombah. if it were rear wheel drive, that would be even nicer.reminds me of the G8 concept which should have been built... LS1 RWD GP with ram air.... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmthe ls4 is nice because of the dispalcment on demand.

I would love to get a GXP. The cheapest one that my local dealer found supposedly in the state of california was $24,995 maybe I will stick to a GTP he found one for around $22,995. Not sure yet.

I wish GM would just bring those to market instead of just "look what we made... just for us only!" models. I believe there is a GXP Vibe model out there to...

Damn that is a sweet looking vibe!!! I have not been able to locate any info confirming the GXP will be built, but I bet it will. I did read where GM already has a supercharger setup for the GTP that should go on sale later this year. Yeah baby!!!!

I saw a red G6 coupe the other day, wow that looked sweet. I saw them back at the detriot auto show but to see it outside and not surrounded by people got me a better look.
