http://www.thesmokinggun.com/a....htmlAUGUST 2--Meet Josper Sanon. The Florida man, 49, was arrested yesterday and charged with flinging his teenage son's dog off a fifth-floor balcony after the two-month-old puppy soiled the family's Miramar apartment. The dog, a black Labrador, died after being tossed more than 25 feet through the air from the 50-foot high balcony, according to the below Miramar Police Department report. Charged with felony animal abuse, Sanon was released yesterday from the Broward County jail after posting bail. If convicted of the dog killing, Sanon--pictured at right in a police booking photo--faces a maximum of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
maybe he should be flung from a 5th story balcony the next time he makes a mistake. These sorts of things are just sad and wrong....The carpet can be cleaned or replaced... its not the end of the world and NEVER worth a life.Give HIM the MAX!!!
Stories like that make me so incredibly sad. The last story I read like that had me in tears for half an hour. Pets give so much joy and unconditional love. They're like kids. I think I'll go hug my kitties now. *sob*

Maggie and Prissy, the two dogs Hope and I have.. they accidently chew camera memory cards, chap stick and (removed) on the floor every now and then. But I'd have to kill myself if I ever threw them off the balconey for anything. They are just like little kids and human logic is not always something they understand.

Yeah my cats "miss" the litter box once in a while, and throw up all the time (I swear one is bulimic), but its okay. The cat that poos on the floor is doing so because my bf didn't clean the litterbox to his liking... and the one that barfs everywhere loves to gorge himself. I would NEVER punish them for that. Well we scold the binging cat for pigging out, but never touch him to punish him. They love to follow me around, snuggle up on my feet in the winter when we're all in bed, crawl under my bf's shirt and snuggle, all the while purring up a storm because they're so happy. Them purring makes me happy. Its one of the best sounds in the world - a purring cat.

I'll second the vote for "fling him out the window the next time he makes a mistake".My dog is in that stage right now where everything is a chew toy. Some of you may remember that I've been working on remodeling my house for a while now, well that remodel now includes replacing the carpet as the edge along one wall has been shredded. This has led me on several occasions to wonder why I ever bought a puppy (only momentarily) but I could never conceive of throwing her out a window. She's a dog. She has no concept of the expense or hassle of replacing carpet. Does Blanca get in trouble for chewing the carpet? Yes, of course. But it doesn't take much. She already knows she's in trouble. She gets scolded and ignored for about an hour (I do feed her and let her out, just don't hold/pet her). If she's behaved when I get home, she gets praised and rewarded with her favorite treats. This method is how my 5-month old Blanca is already house broken.OK. Sorry for the rant. This story just upsets me.
So, so, so very sad! That guy sounds like a real winner. Next time that guy is trying to take a leak at 3 in the morning and misses, I think his son should fling him out the flippin' window too. *holding on to my sweet lil' Yorkie!*

I'd love to throw him out the window as well, but we've missed another issue here. What's to become of the man's two sons? The youngest was the one who saw his father do this. According to the police report, they were both taken to their aunt since the father was the only parent. Can you imagine the emotional scarring on that little boy? He actually saw the dead puppy on the ground and led the arresting officer to it. What's going to happen if this guy gets out in five years or less? Unless another family member contests it (or their mother, if she's around), he'll likely get custody again. That's what frightens me most.
As part of his sentence they should require him to live in a one story ranch house with bars on the windows. But seriously... this guy deserves punishment, and I agree with you... the kids are really the ones who suffer the consequences from this jerk's actions.
This kind of stuff INFURIATES me to the point where I can't see clearly. I volunteer to throw this guy off of the balcony myself. All of my pets (two dogs and two cats, at this moment) were rescues from abuse situations. The dog I grew up with had been burned with cigarettes, stabbed with a knife, kicked and punched. His prior owners dumped him on a busy road and we saw him get hit. The vet is who figured out all of the abuse, he had so many scars. My newest arrival was kicked and punched because he would wet on the carpet. Sure, he has accidents, but there is something called, cleaning it up. Because he was abused, he doesn't have the bladder control a normal adult dog would. I am so mad, I won't go into the details on the other ones. I took on an entire fraternity for abusing a dog they had tied to their house and got many of the guys on my side. One of them took the baby home and still sends me pictures today.I don't take this kind of stuff sitting down. If I lived in Miramar, I would be down at the courthouse demanding justice. This is one of the areas I am very passionate about. Sorry to rant on and on and on, but I just had to vent.
Just because you see Charlie doesn't mean I am a he....sometimes Charlie can be a she!!!!

First off, this guy is a loser and perhaps a masochist...he deserves to be punished. It just seems like 5 years in prison and a $10,000 fine may be a bit extreme.I've had dogs my entire life. I currently own two dogs. I would be very hurt (emotionally) if any harm came to my dogs. Once I had a neighbor give my dog rat poison because it killed their cat after the cat entered my yard (has anyone ever seen the slow death a dog goes through after eating poison?). Even knowing all that, I would never expect someone that kills a dog (no matter how inhumane a death) to be charged with a felony and get 5 years in prison and fined $10,000. The person may need to be locked up for psychiatric evaluation (if it is habitual or gruesome), but not charged with a felony (IMHO).

I'd ask what was frying on his BBQ... it was all in good fun though but yeah, some peoplve view dogs differently...
