Roof Rack Bars

Post by kayakjim »

I just bought an 05 Vibe and would like to purchase the crossbars that, in my opinion, should have been included with the car. I emailed a local dealer to inquire as to their availablity in stock. I was told they are $140.48 each.I know they are discounted if purchased through http://www.gmpartsdirect.com, but I need them now for vacation which starts next week.Does anyone know of an alternative supplier? My God... two hollow tubes for $280!?! And here I thought Bill Gates cornered the market on manipulating the public in the art of grabbing ones ankles.

That and the Yakima setup can handle more weight than the stock aluminum x bars.

ASI have stated many many many many times before, but I will more than happily say it again: go for the Yakima setup. Q-Towers for the front and the Ankle Bitersd for the back. That way you have as much flexibility as you want or need. Just be sure to get the fairing for the front , it will cut down majorly on wind noise!

Jeff,Thanks, but after reading this forum and talking with a couple people, I think I'll go ahead and buy a Yakima set up. I really wish I would have done this sooner, but hopefully I won't blow all my money on vacation. Thanks everyone for the info.

Just do Lowrider towers. Don't get the Q-tower combo. It covers the sunroof.

a couple of years ago I think the whole setup cost me in the neighborhood of oh say $200, double the cost of the stock bars but a hell of alot more versitile.
