I got some new information about a GT-R body kit. I'm starting this new thread because the previous thread was more of a decision on which type of body kit we'd like to go after first.Extreme Dimensions would need 20 confirmed buyers, each of which would need to make a 25% deposit on the kit before they'll go ahead with the prototype. The MSRP for the kit would be $1049, but the first 20 buyers would get 30% off that, so the cost comes to $734.30. Shipping withint the continental US would be in the $100-150 range. The body kit would be made of "our new high-quality Dureflex. We would also need someone in Southern California that could do without their car for a little while so they can do the prototype work on it. That person would receive a free kit. I'd love to do it, but I only have 1 car, and it's about 2800 miles away from Southern California. For anyone interested, you can see pictures of the GT-R body kit here: http://www.hotrod.com/featuredvehicles/47353/.If you're interested in putting down $185 (roughly) for a GT-R Body Kit, please post a message on here, and as soon as I get 20 names, and someone in SoCal, we'll proceed to the next step.

since the exhaust outlet is on the other side in that pic, would we need a custom exhaust, or are they going to make it to match the normal outlet?edit: I dont have cash, im just asking out of pure curiousity
does the price include painting?either way im interested in thisput me downhow soon do you need the deposit?i assume we will wait til we have enough people before we start passing around the plate?
I sent a message inquiring, but I assume you'll have to get it painted. I'm 99% sure the kit will include both bumpers and the side skirts, but I asked, just in case they wanted to throw in the fenders or roof rails or something. Not likely, but if they offer, cool. We'll wait until we have enough people, then I'll send contact information for the deposit.

I'd like to see their finished copy or prototype other then those magazine pics before I decide.Edit: and wouldn't they need permission from the GT-R designer to copy that kit?

Wow, for a free kit, I'd probably volunteer! BUT...how long would they need the car for? Since it's prototyping, I'm assuming weeks? I don't have a second car, but i'd consider buying a beater if they gave me a kit and painted the car
well, looking at the pictures, Us people with the 03-04 front ends would only need the bottom half of the front bumper, sooooooo i think the price for the front bumper should at least be halved for us (makes sense doesnt it?)
no because most liklt it is the whole front bumper and not a lip lit, u want a lip kit they have the gm package. but if u were ot only need half, i would demand a price cut hah
My Car, with the kit on. it looks awesome! come and check it out, tell me what u think.P.S. the gray will be painted momentarily http://www.cardomain.com/ride/514882/1
You can count me in. I have about 6 more months in Iraq and wont be useing my car any time soon, and i would be willing to send it to CA (home state) from GA if it does not cost to much. What ever will help to get this kit made.
no way, the gm lip kit thing is such a little change. If you didnt know someone had it on their car you would think it was stock. i was just talking about how the 03-04 front bumper consists of a top part and the lower half which has the lower grill and fog lights in it. I was considering having one of the car places here in NC make a custom lower half, but that would be too much money
If we can only get 4 people, that'd be a LOT of upfront money... so... you have a rich uncle who owes you a birthday present? I'm estimating a total upfront cost of around $15,000... that's $750 times 20. If we have to proceed with 4 people, that's $3750 each, and $7500 for Shadow-Vibe. I don't think his wife wants a body kit THAT badly. If you can gather up anybody else, let me know...

maybe try posting this thread in the vibe lounge or something to get more people to see it...just thinkin of ways to help, i know if i had the cash, i would be in it for sure, sorry you're low on people
First of all, surely more people would be interested in the hood than the body kit? =-D I at least would. Two, try posting on matrixowners.com , they have an EXTREMELY active forum and quite a few Vibe owners.

Here is my problem with the body kit, I realized this recently. I tow with my Vibe, I have a trailer hitch that would not work with a body kit......dammit.

Once we get enough people for this kit maybe they would make the gray parts in carbon fiber, that would look strait. I would pay a little extra for that. Come on people you know you want it.
Hmm... was just involved in a minor accident with my Vibe, need to do just some minor dent removal in the door and the fender... might be interesting to send it to these guys. What part of So Cal are they in, and when are they wanting it??? Have a second car, so thats no biggie. Haven't done any mods to the Vibe yet, so this might be a great way to start
Wait...wait...WAIT! I posted the original information on the REAL GT-R kit eons ago! ASC Automotive made the GT-R kit for GM and does not plan on making it production, I know because I spoke with them. The pictures on the site posted are the originals with the ASC kit installed. If another company thinks they can copy it thats one thing, but don't believe its the same thing until you see it.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=12799
Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others have labored hard for.
Until they have a prototype fabricated, I would consider this vapor-ware. It won't be the same thing as the real GT-R kit anyway, so I wouldn't bother until I saw it.

Ok, tell me this. Is the deposit refundale if the kit turns out looking like crap? I'v got someone who took my role as the only custom vibe in the city and I might have him look into this kit, but laying money down not knowing whats its gonna look like is a big risk since they can't duplicate that kit. Do they even have any layouts of what they want to make their verson of the GT-R kit look like?

No...the Vibe GT-R was created to show Vibe enthusiast what the Vibe could look like if you had your own body shop and access to fiberglass molding equipment and paint booths (removed)....just like the GXP and Autocross. I can see GM saying "Hey check out how amazing you could make your Vibe!" then you buy one and GM says "PSYCH! AH HAHAHAHAHAHA, we aren't making Vibes after this next model year, why would we waste time and money on a body kit for your car! HAHAHAA"
yea thats real close to what they acctualy said to everyone. "hey come buy and look at our hip new Vibe GT-R(r stands for real expensive $$$$$$$$ never going to be produced body kit) stunner (under their breath they are saying: if you have the money, supplies, skill, and time to do it) you too can have your pontiac vibe look like this."
I thought this was a new thread regarding a GT-R-esque bodykit coming out, at first glance *EXCITING*. THEN, i read it and quickly became saddened at the realization that this thread is old as balls. p.s.new toys are gonna be added tomorrow.....im giddy like a little school girl at the very thought of the new additions ......pics to follow

Show them these threads and the support this kit has, maybe someone will wake up, but don't count on it.

To be honest I wouldn't buy it. My Vibe is already screwed up enough, if I spent $1000 on a bodykit and it got screwed up just the same I would be even more upset. BEsides, not enough people are willing to buy it for it to even get made. People say they would buy it but if the time came about 75% of those people would back down. Since this is the last model year, Vibe will disappear out of the aftermarket company's future plans within the next few years lol SOOOOOO optimistic aren't I?
well if they will see alll of the people that DOOO want body kits and WILL pay for them! or have our Super Meet in their Front parking lot to showem how many of us will buy their kits! but like damron and Merzbow have said before and will probaly will say after i post this that they still probaly wont built em.
