Center Console Lid on 2005 Model

Post by stevo2000 »

Just received a 2003 model lid(w/compartment), won on Ebay. Perfect fit and also matches graphite interior. I now have a proper armrest and an additional storage compartment! Heaven! I feel much better now. Got the roof rack cross bars a few weeks ago.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...%3AIT

SWEET... that's what I like to hear (I'm sure CP does too). I'm going to "trade" out my 05 console lid for his 03 console lid at the Ohio meet.

For other 05'ersIf you can't find one to trade, you can get one from Toyota for much cheaper than the GM 03/04 lid. The Toyota part # is 58905-02210-B1 and any dealer parts dept will sell it to you for about $100.Althought there are two seat color options on the Vibe, the plastic trim is the same color in all Vibes and the Toyota part will match perfectly.Info was originally posted in:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=12602

You can also check your local salvage yards as well. I found one for my '05 there and paid only $15. It was in perfect condition.

Does this affect the height of the arm rest?

Yup! It raises it about 2-3 inches.

I'm surprised I haven't gotten a "WHY?" or "(removed)?" response about me actually wanting to swap armrests to the '05 style. Less storage space = fewer places for me to throw crap and lose it. Plus I think the shorter armrest would actually benefit me...Man, I must be weird. lol

That somehow having a "good" center armrest was just out of place..... LOL! Isn't that the truth? And not surprisingly, the armrest had to be replaced last year because the latch for the top compartment broke. So I figure the way my luck runs, might as well give it to someone else so I can get an armrest without that one extra piece that potentially could break again. (removed)!
