Hi there,I just bought my first Vibe on Saturday and am concerned about its security in Boston (specifically overnight in Jamaica Plain). My insurance company will pay for, and give me a discount for, VIN etching. Easy enough...But will potential thieves see the VIN etch and move on? Or would you suggest a more visible deterrent like an alarm or The Club? I get a 15% discount on my comprehensive insurance because of the free VIN etch, or I get a 20% discount because of a $200 after market alarm. The insurance savings isn't considerable, so what would you suggest as a reasonable deterrent? Thanks!
That's about right if you don't want to do it yourself. I doubt any theives would notice the etching on the windows, or if they did, they wouldn't care. I believe there's more petty thefts than full car thefts, so if you're concerned about the car itself, the VIN etch might be enough, if you're concerned about anything in the car, the alarm would be better.

I lived in the boston area for four years and always used the club. I didn;t even it lock it most of the time, just the visibility of the club is enough of a deterrent. the little red light of car alarms and fake car alarms is ubiquitous now. The club is a classic, like pacman.
