Anyone here know of a reason one dealer in town will have a Vibe ad that states "$1,000 add'l off for non-GM customer" and other dealers make no mention of that? Is this a "given" or do dealers get a limited amount of these rebates to use as they see fit?

I don't know why, but I ran into the same thing. Most dealers don't mention it or show it on their website. One dealier I called (Hudson WI) and specifically asked about the Conquest Rebate said it curretnly wasn't running. The dealer I just bought from this weekend gladly mentioned and applied the Conquest Rebate to my purchase. I ended up w/ a 2005, Neptune blue, Automatic, Power Package, and Anti lock brake package. No idea why some dealers are offering this and some are not. And I didn't see the Conquest rebate listed on the GM website either.
Same thing here, one dealer said GM sent them a notice to discontinue the conquest cash during the employee rebate program while another said it still applied (guess who I bought from)... then just yesterday I saw a Vibe commercial and it mentioned the conquest cash being used WITH the employee discount to get a new Vibe for a little over $15k. I think it’s up to the dealers to make the decision…

And GM wonders why we consumers hate the car buying process!

If they don't tell you - they keep it and you pay $1k more. It's a good way to weed out the stealers from the dealers.

But since a large number of sale probably involve a trade-in that may not be a valid point.Every time I bought a car with rebate(s) I had to sign a rebate form,. So unless the dealer is forging these forms (and risking loss of their dealership, and also no doubt committing a felony) I doubt that these rebates are being pocketed by the dealer on the sly.By the way, anyone here buy a Vibe with no trade-in who was asked to see documentation for ownership of a non-GM vehicle that did not get this rebate? I tend to think that perhaps the dealer is limited on the number of these rebates he can give. Would be interesting to know for sure. You'd think there would be a dealer/salesperson on this site that would tell us but I guess we can't be allowed to know all of their secrets.

I'll join some of the other folks in saying I just don't get it either .I was negotiating with a dealer when I mentioned the rebate. He said he didn't think it was currently offered, but that GM had to send you a coupon in the mail to get the Conquest Rebate. Like others have mentioned, other dealers in the area are including the rebate in their newpaper ads.
