GM "after-purchase" survey

Post by gargoyle »

Had my Vibe a little over a month now and I just got the after-purchase survey from GM. I rated my satisfaction with the Vibe very high , but the satisfaction with the dealer and salesman very, very low. I felt I got ripped off and taken advantage of by the dealer/salesman... and I let GM know that! I purchased this car anyway (despite the shifty pricing scam) because I was in a bind and needed the car immediately (my other vehicle crapped out) and I knew my credit wasn't very good due to a past bankruptcy and low credit score... My bank wouldn't finance me, and I couldn't take the time to go shop around other dealers, so I had to settle for what they would give me. It will be interesting to see if I get any feedback from this survey.I'll keep you posted!

My dealer told me how I was supposed to get that survey and I knew I was supposed to receive one, but I never did. I would not have rated my dealer very well either. They made some mistakes, didn't go over the car in delivery, forgot to give me/install some accessories I bought, no window sticker, and made me drive the hour back to them to get that stuff. Then not to mention they messed up getting me my license plates and which caused me to get pulled over by police for my temp tags being expired.

I never got one either, nor have I ever received any mail of any sort that would make me think GM even knows I own the car.The dealer made a big deal of telling me about the survey and that they wanted to make sure I was 100% happy. Then I go out to get the car and find one of the roof rack caps missing (they yanked one off another vibe for me). Then they only have one key and no remotes. So they go back in and get me some remotes from another Vibe, which of course don't work on my car. And of course they don't have anyone there on a Sunday who can reprogram them.So needless to say at this point I'm not very happy. I suspect at that point they just trashed whatever paperwork would go to GM to generate the survey, knowing they'd get a poor score.

After begrudgingly signing the final paperwork, as I was leaving, he told me that "he could get a bonus reward based on the survey, so if I could find it in my heart to give him a good score he'd really appreciate it." Uh, well... sorry jack@$$! No bonus for you! Maybe next time you'll think twice about scamming your customer.

I didn't get a survey either, which is a shame because I got GREAT -- REALLY GREAT service from the dealer. they were very accommodating. My dad had gone there with his Buick (didn't buy from them) to get new tires (Goodyear Eagle Triple Tread) 4 tires, installed and ballanced for under $400.00. he also had the seat material came apart from the back of the seat. They had it covered under warranty despite the fact it was out of warranty. So when I was shopping for a car I knew I'd have to look into Sterling Auto Group in Bryan, Tx (shameless plug) and they worked hard to get me into my Vibe. with the 2K I was upside down on my trade-in with the employee pricing, another discount they gave me PLUS TTL I was out the door under $19K with a base Vibe, Auto, Power windows and keyless remote. they also threw in the cargo mat and netting. So for all the horror stories about dealers, mine turned out ok. everyone there is super friendly, the other salesmen will walk up ask how you are, shake your hand and even offer to buy you a soda.

My experience also was a pleasant one.The salesman was VERY professional, and didn't try any of the scam tactics, it may have helped that a customer of mine referred me to that particular dealership, (he leased his 2005 just this spring). I spoke with him on the phone first and told him that my customer had referred him.Upon talking to the salesman, it turns out that we both are motorcycle guys too. The rest of the staff was equally pleasant, it was akin to dealing with the Honda dealerships from about 10 years ago (when their ethics were still intact, and their egos still human-sized).The dealership is Downtown Pontiac Buick in St. Marys, Ontario..I would recommend them in a heartbeatI will have to give them a very good report when I get my survey.

i once put that i would never go to the dealer again because of a disagreement with the management (not for the vibe purchase) and never heard anything. I know from filling enough of those out that the dealer only gets a good score if you put extremely satisfied. if you put anything else, its a ding.on a semi-related note, the vibe is the ONLY gm car i have ever bought that i didn't get a thank you gift in the mail from GM when the survey came. CD case, book, glovebox organizer, keychain and stuff like that. nothing on this one.

We also got those little gifts for our GMC vehicles, but haven't gotten anything for any of what we have now, which is two Trailblazers and my Vibe. I dunno, maybe they quit doing that. The gift we got for the GMC Jimmy was really nice -- a softsided and embroidered cooler *and* a CD case. All I got for the Sonoma was a CD case. No cookies either...waaah...

I got a survey, but I didn't fill it out because I got the sense that if I didn't give them a top score, they'ed be calling me to find out why, and the less I have to deal with them, the better. They also sent me a gift--a bottle of touch-up paint! I guess they are aware of the reputation the Vibe's paint job has.

I never got one from GM but then again I worked at the dealership which may have had something to do with it.GM may give you a call, both they and the dealerships get back those CSI reports to. Some "poor" sales person didn't get his CSI bonus
