Tele-Visor

Post by jeffgtx »

television in a visor.. televisor I am pretty pleased with this mod since i did it all by myself (i'm all grown up now). there is some finishing polishing to do, but its in there pretty good. plus the LCD was only $50.This is the passenger visor, which will hook into a video splitter. i am also going to put one in the dirver side hooked up to a rear view camera.you can see the naked wiring here, but i will be drilling a hole in the middle of the visor mount which will hide it. Jeffhope you like it.

*sigh* I was looking forward to the slushie machine dammit! Actionvibe is coming along nicely, I must say! What source are you using for the screen? TV tuner somewhere, or are you just going directly into the display?Very good work!

I think he should make us all some slushies to make up for getting our hopes up, don't you think? Anyway, that is pretty cool looking...now you just need a DirecTV dish on the roof rack and you have 600-some channels of anything you could possibly want in the car!

That's awesome! I especially like the idea of setting up a rear video camera and projecting on the driver's visor...very cool and functional at the same time.Keep us informed on how that implementation works.

thanks gang. appreciate the kind words.to answer some kweshuns:1) the LCD is actually removed from a 5" 'game kit' that they sell at fry's. interestingly enough, i was a phone call away from getting ready to plunk down 180 bucks for a 4 inch one with video card, and the i stumbled across that and decided i would take a chance and take it apart, and sure enough its a stand alone unit that has a small card that converts the power and video. i will hide that in teh headliner.2) the source [for teh passenger] will either be a ps2 or DVD. havent finalized that yet.3) sorry about the slushy hoax, but its mikes fault!i will post again when i have teh dirver side installed, which i will try to do today.i am contemplating taking the stock fabric off and putting a faux suede over it, but not sure i can find a color that will match.Jeff

here is teh exact unit i bought. the manufacturer is G2G gear, tho i am sure, by more than just the terrible instruction manual translation, its just some importer from China.you take the blue case off and inside is an LCD with the controller card mounted on teh back. there is one board on the right side which has the video inputs and power.there is a board on the left side which has the video control and sound. since sound will be handled elsewhere, i am leaving that board out.they also make a 7" system, which is what i am using in teh back.oh yea, each one came iwth a 100W invertor too

Nice, I was actually thinking of using one in my car but couldnt find a really good one. Is the video quality pretty good on this lcd? I have a couple projects lined up that need little lcd's. What would be awesome would be this lcd in my car with rca connections so I can hook ps2, dvd player, ps1 or pc in my car. Then have the AUX from cd deck used for audio? hahah surround sound!! all this will be done after my warrenty, so probably next summer but i could use the parts now just in case. Take more pics if you can it looks SWEET!!
