Wheel Adpaters Fit?

Post by silver_vibe »

It seems like this should have been discussed before, but I couldn't find it using the forum's search feature...Does anyone one if these would fit the Vibe? Wheel AdapterI know the Vibe's bolt pattern is 5X100 100mm = 3.94" and 4.0" = 101.6mmAlso, has anyone used wheel adapters to change the bolt pattern? Any issues I should be aware of?

No go, silver!Unfortunately, that 0.060" difference in bolt circles might as well be an inch. Wheel studs don't take kindly to bending.I built my own 100 mm to 4.75" adaptors for the 17" x 10" Corvette wheels on my Vibe, and have used them for more than 2 years without problems, but there are several potential issues:o Quality: If you go for cheap adaptors, the strength and tolerances are suspect and can cause problems ranging from minor vibration to shedding of a wheel.o Hub centric mounting: There are stock wheels that are located just by the studs (as are my new ones), but it's far better to have hub location of the adaptor and wheel to minimize the chance of run-out and reduce the load on the studs, which means a very specific adaptor is required.o Offset effect: The wheels you use must have greater offset to "offset" the thickness of the adaptors and for adequate strength, a typical adaptor is around 18 to 25 mm thick, meaning you might need close to a 60 mm offset; not all that common!Generally speaking, if you have the wrong wheels it's far better to sell them for what you can get and buy the right ones. (There are hundreds out there that will fit the Vibe.) If you've fallen in love with a set that doesn't fit, get over it; it's not worth the trouble!

Thanks for the reply. That's not what I wanted to hear. I also emailed Summit Racing and yesterday so I will post their reply here when I get it.Quote, originally posted by MadBill »...I built my own 100 mm to 4.75" adaptors for the 17" x 10" Corvette wheels on my Vibe, and have used them for more than 2 years without problems...Have you ever posted pictures of your Vibe with the Vette wheels?

I just got a short reply from Summit Racing and they confirmed what MadBill stated above. Here is their reply: From what I have seen in the past, the 4" pattern is just enough different than the 100mm pattern to not allow it to be installed.

I like it...Now I need to find a set of adapters for around $100.
