I heard a rumor about the interstates in Indiana going to 70 MPH speed limits, but didn't know for sure.All of the interstates around me are 55 MPH due to proximity to Louisville, so I didn't notice the change. But today when I got away from the city to go to the dealer, sure enough I could go 70.How long has it been like that? And are you guys seeing the same thing in your part of the state?Woo hoo!

They just changed them in Iowa to 70. The cops are out in full force pulling over speeders. Used to never see them hardly, now I can't drive 10 miles without seeing somebody pulled over.

lol! That figures... You could probably run all day long at 70 when the speed limit was 65, but now if you're running 71 in a 70, time for a ticket! I was wondering if that would end up happening here, probably so...

Hehehe...55. I can't drive 55! If you drove 55 anywhere in AZ you would be run over.We just got back from a road trip across the western states, everywhere except CA and road construction areas was pretty much go as fast as your car can handle. I can not imagine that same trip at 55. 55 lol.

55 and 65 are the norms up here. about 10 yrs ago when i was in hs, the hwys went up from 55 to 65. i remember all the people making a big deal over it, saying how more people would just speed and kill themselves on the roads. the only places where people have died (for the most part) have been in the no passing zones on the hwys or involve a drunk driver.

there are rummor in Wisconsin about raising from 65 to 75mph...I'm only infavor of the increase if it is enforced!!! the problem now is the current speed laws are not enforced and ppl are already going 75-80mph.

Dang...we got to have 70 down here in Texas just to be able to get anywhere in the state in a decent time. Thank goodness our highways are in good enough shape to take 70-80 vehicles.

70 Except in construction zones, where fines are doubled, of course.Then there's Interstate 70 eastbound near Richmond, Indiana. There traffic is so uh, "messed" up at certain times, that you can't drive 10 MPH! There was a 15 MILE backup eastbound when we were traveling home (westbound) at 9 pm on a weekday!

and school zones! wouldn't want anyone doing 70 mph if i had a child walking to/from school!

Indiana is kinda weird, but I have to say I don't think that we have any school zones on our interstates.

The problem is so bad that my daughter had to ride the bus an extra 30 minutes a day so it could let her out on our side of the road.The offenders are mostly "winter visiters" (snow birds, white heads, Q-Tips, blue hairs, etc.) from the mid-west and north east. I know there must be school busses in those parts of the country, do people there pass busses while the kids are trying to cross the road? It is probably because most of these drivers are rather old and can't see very well over the dashes of their crown vics and buicks.

Here in SoCal most of the urban freeways are 65, actual speeds are usually all jammed up, I drive to AZ at least once a year. Out of town I-10 speed limit is 75. I've been told anything Just got new tires last Sat. Nice and smooth up to 90, haven't had a chance to go faster.... yet!

I'd give anything for 70 here...And crap, the freaking garden state parkway is still 55!

70 finally. Talk about behind the times. Been 75 in Nebraska for a long time, since the government said it was ok. My 2 lane hwy to my house is 65. Granted we're mostly rural and don't have a lot of traffic.I went through the panhandle of Texas one time and I think it was 70 or 75 on the 2 lane highways as well as the interstate. Now I wish Kansas would raise there's a little bit more. I hate driving through that state. Well I'll be leaving tomorrow evening for the 20 hour drive down to Houston...Hopefully there will be higher speed limits the whole way.

I know what your talking about. I lived outside of St. Louis for 4 years and my in-laws lived in western CO so we drove that fairly often. Eastern KS isn't bad, but western KS is awful...I think easter CO is just as bad. The panhandle of TX is the worst place I've ever driven through as far as scenery.

In Jersey, police are ALWAYS hiding out around construction zones. And you can't seem them a lot of times either, they pull behind a dumptruck or something so they're out of sight to oncoming traffic, but can easily watch anyone going through. They know it's guaranteed you'll nail at least 10 people blowing through them. I go 3 under the limit in those zones, just so I can add protection for myself from radar guns that may not be properly calibrated. I watch out-of-staters blow through them and get nailed by NJSP (or whoever's jurisdiction it is) not 1000 feet beyond the end of the zone. It's guaranteed entertainment!

Hell yeah, I'm the ******* holding up traffic. And to further (removed) people off, I'm always looking for a semi that is doing the posted speed limit in the construction zone. I'll get in the other lane and run right alongside him, with the cruise set at 45. People don't realize how easy it is to get busted in these zones - and what's even worse, the chance of jail time and hefty fines if someone causes an accident in a construction zone and injures a worker... I can't think that someone would feel it's worth to blow through these zones at 80 MPH and risk landing themselves in the slammer just so they can try to get to their destination one minute before me.
