Horn Horn Horn

Post by chung7 »

So I heard the Vibe's horn sucks! I also read great things about the dual supertone horns. What is a good way to upgrade the Vibe's horn? Is this a simple upgrade? Should I bring it into the shop instead? Thanks!

It does suck, meep..meep!You can buy practically any horn, Super Hellas etc....It took me about 5 minutes to change it. the location of the horn is right in front of the radiator. Just follow the installation instructions from your new horn and voila pretty much done!

I posted a walkthrough back in 02 on how to do it. http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=2656

I just got a new horn from my local NAPA auto parts for $14.99usd. took me about 10 minutes to install (i didnt realize that the horn had to be mounted to work). it's not super loud or anything but its a whole lot nicer than the "roadrunner" tha comes on the vibe and for 14.99 you cant beat it.

I am MAN... hear me honk!I did it... I replaced the "meeper". Just swapped it out with a Fiamm highway blaster or whatever it was from AutoZone. It took about 30 seconds. It took longer to find my socket wrench than it took to actually change it. Works fine... nothing ground shaking but it's a definite improvement over the meep. When I get some time, ambition, a nut, a bolt, and a foot of wire... i'll probably re-attach the meeper for a two tone sound effect. It's so pitiful looking I couldn't bear to just throw it away.
