D@mn 18 wheelers....

Post by MoonDogg »

Just thought I would mention my misfortunes... Don't worry the vibe is alright... I hit the tread of a blown off recapped tire last night comming back from Gulfport... well it ripped my Neon's from the drivers side off!!! I think recapps should be outlawed.. cause they cause so much problems on the road!! Sorry had to vent....

They are all over the highways! They cause a lot of pollution on the sides of the road and d@mn im scared to be next to a 18 wheeler if it blew up next to me id prolly fly off the road and crash no doubt.

yeah, i had a recap tear the4 hell out of my zx2 when i had it, I ended up getting a $1600 insurance check to fix it, but now I am paying a accident fee for 3 years. that stuff pisses me off, insurance companies are a ripoff, you pay out hundreds of thousands of dollars and end up getting shafted when you nedd 1000 to fix something.

Those things should definitely be outlawed. The whole 18-wheeler tire recap thing is a racket. I've never driven cross-state without having to swerve around them, and often encouter them just around DFW.

I just had a very good friend run over a recap that flipped out from under a car in front of her last week. Her truck did require a 30 dollar front 2 wheel alignment. Luckily, no one was hurt and nothing more was damaged. All this because a trucker didn't have the courtesy to call it in or stop to see if he or she could get it safely removed to the side of the road. The car behind her didn't fair so well, taking out the front lower clip on the car.

There are some give and takes with re-cap's.Recaps save alot a lot of room because your re-using old tires. But they cause serious safety issues.Like they can go thru a winshield like a hot knife thru butter killing people. They do much better in cooler weather then hotter. Each recap has a DOT # that is traceable where it was made, who made it, what time it was made, what it was made out of.Recap will last a long time if there cared for, and the PSI is kept up.If you want to hear some other serious Semi issues.ALL Trucks should have Jake brakes. but it's not mandate by law and companies don't want to spend the money to buy them.Disk Brakes have been around for many years for Semi's that work great, but the cost is great.Split speed limits are dangerous.Trucks parking along on and off ramps are dangerous.Lighting on trailer's should be increased. (like chicken haulers)We can't deal without semi truck's, they keep America running. But they should be made as safe as posiable.

I do agree.. we do need Semi's but I also agree they need to be safer and the drivers need to be more responsible.....
