Installing Speakers M&T

Post by KaosStarr »

Ok, I think one of my tweeters is going so I'm looking into getting some components to install in my 03 Vibe. The Question what would be easier:a) Use the exsisting amp and just buy the speaker connectors to install them.b) Just leave the wires in the doors from the factory and run my own wires and an amp?

You can use the existing amp, but...you'll most likely blow the speakers because the M&T amp isn't powerful enough to give the right amount of power to non-factory speakers. What some people have done is replace the speakers in the door and get a small 4-channel amplifier to go under the passenger seat in replacement of the factory amplifier..using the existing wiring. If you'd want to use the factory radio, you'd need to get two linelevel converters, or get an aftermarket radio with RCA outputs.

Ok, I never thought of that way. I have a non-factory deck. Do you know of any place to find what the wiring schematic would be for the wiring harness of the amp to do up the speakers and power?
