Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Are people here in to Harry Potter? Will anyone be going out at midnight tonight to purchase the new book?

"Into it" is probably an understatement where I'm concerned...LOL I'm going out shortly to get there at 6 when the party starts so I can get an early number to be one of the absolute first to get the book at midnight, then I'm going back at 10 for the party and to wait patiently. I post on a message board about HP, and I'm actually so obsessed with a certain character that I've had an essay about him published in a mass-marketed book...heh. I know what I'll be doing tonight...reading.

Which character? Wow, that's cool! I didn't get started on them until fairly late...when they first came out I didn't think I'd enjoy them at all. But my (now) 12 year old nephew made me read them and I just love them! Can't wait for tonight! Are you going to stay up ALL night long and see how far you can get?

I have an express lane voucher from Book-A-Million to get mine tonight, but I'll probably wait until tomarrow, I'm still a bit jet lagged from being in SLC all week, and I just got in at midnight last night.

The character...don't laugh...is Severus Snape. He's cool. So complex. I love him because you can interpret him so many different ways and he's so fun to analyze. I didn't get into it until the first movie came out, then I read the first four books in the course of about a week because I loved it so much. I only went to see what the whole big deal was about, and boy am I glad I did!I stayed up as long as I could when OotP came out, but ended up in bed by about 6. But I kind of rushed through the book and had to read it again to get the details, so I think I may take my time and savor it a little more this time. Are you going to a midnight release party?

My wife and I didn't get into it until after the first movie. Then we read the first 3 books right away. I don't believe Goblet of Fire was out yet. As soon as that one came out we read it. OOTP, we were the first ones to checkout at wal-mart here last year. We'll be there at midnight tonight as well.I haven't anticipated this one as much as the last one, but still can't wait to get it.

Ok, I think we got it as soon as we finished POA.3 paper backs for us and 2 soon to be 3 hard backs. Will probably go buy the original 3 in hardback some time.

I'm not sure if I'll get there at midnight or not. I have my copy reserved at B&N, but normally I don't stay up too late anymore. And I have to work at my pt job tomorrow at 8:30. But my best friend will be there for the release so she'll get mine if I don't make it--but if Im still awake at that time you bet I'll go! I need to actually go BUY them all for myself--I borrowed my nephew's copies, but I'd love to read them again.

Man, the shopping center where our BN is, is just nuts all the time as far as parking is concerned, and it's real interesting tonight. But most of the people weren't even going to the store, they were going to all the restaurants and other stores...sure hope it's better when I go back at 10. But I'm #58...yay!

I'll probably get around to checking out as a book on tape at some point, but that last one really sucked royal. harry whining through the whole book, just wanted to slap him and tell hin to get over himself. So annoying, I am in no hurry wahtsoever to hear the next. You all be sure to tell me if he is still a self centered wuss crybaby in the new book, if so, it will save me some time

I love the books. I'll wait to get this one though, I got busy with working and rennovating my house some time ago and haven't had a chance to read them since finishing the first book. Well, that and I started reading through some of my Kafka again and got too involved with it... anyway I'm going to start reading again and get myself caught up. They're just so much fun.

Oooh you've totally got to get caught up! They've gotten progressively better with each book, IMO...but the third was still the best. I can't manage to get connected to watch JKR read the first few pages of the book on scholastic.com

The books are so much better than the movies! So many rich details and little bits that I miss when they are adapted, especially as the books have gotten longer and more must be cut to make it fit into the movie.I debated getting my copy tonight, but I am going to wait until after work tomorrow. If I get it tonight, I will want to start reading, so I won't get much sleep and will be antsy at work. Waiting to read it is one thing, but starting and wanting to get back to it is much worse! The third book was probably my favorite as well. I enjoyed the last one a lot, but forgot about all the whining. I like how the plot keeps thickening...I am curious to see what Neville's role will be in the new book.

I really enjoy the books, though I won't be anywhere but bed at midnight! My sister-in-law pre-ordered as soon as that was possible, though. The HBP will likely be on my Christmas list.I just read the last one a few months ago. Harry was pretty whiney, but if you ever spend any time around 15 yr olds that's pretty much par for the course. I also agree that the books have gotten better and better, and thankfully so have the movies which I've also enjoyed but not nearly as much as the books.Oh- did anyone else think Harry was a little harsh on Cho Chang?

My son read the fourth HP book in 10 hours. He was 9 at the time! He wanted to go to the store at midnight, but I made him wait until morning.Personally, I'm waiting for the 'JK Rowling Employee Discount for Everyone' before I commit to buy a copy for myself.

I was never interested in HP until I caught myself intently listening to my wife read the 4th book to my daughter in the next room. I must have turned the TV volume all the way down... and didn't notice until she was done for the night. Now I have to go back and start with book 1...

I have my copy!!40% off at the Border's Express store at the mall. It is 30% off for everyone, 40% for those who pre-ordered. I can buy two more copies at that price tomorrow if I wanted too...they limited us to 3 copies and had stacks of them there. There was a huge preorder list, too.

(Without intentionally trying to start a 'Political Asylum'-rated thread about store choice...) Half Blood Prince was $15.78 (about 47% off) plus tax for anyone and everyone at the local Wal-Mart, somewhat better than the $17.99 (40% off) I've seen advertised elsewhere.

I WANTED to just stay up all night and finish it, but then I decided I'd rather ENJOY it--take the time to really read it, and not speed read to be done with it! I'm on chapter 12 right now...could be a LOT further along if I hadn't had to work my damn part time job all weekend! Read a review yesterday saying it's the BEST in the series so far...what do you guys think?
