Sticky - rough shifting on Base 05 manual tranny

Post by Vibedad »

Have a base 05 Vibe, 12,000 kms about 2 1/2 months old. Just installed Tein S springs with 16" factory mags and tires.Since I bought the car, it has not shifted smoothly. It feels like it is getting worse. It feels rough going from gear to gear. Has any one else experienced the same problem? I know it is not just me - two other people have driven her and said the same thing.Do I need to have the dealer look at this?I have read the posts on replacing the bushings with the aftermarket brass ones. Is this a big help and will it fix this? Also, I have read about the "short throw shifter" that is available. It is a lot of money - is it a great benefit? Does anyone have one to sell? Thanks - appreciate the help.

I'd say go test drive a new one to see if it is better, and if it is then make the dealer fix yours under warranty

Exactly - go try one on the lot, then have the dealer fix it. Mine is pretty smooth, so it must be a problem.

you do a lot of driving in 2 months... I had that on mine after a year... But then I put 6000km on in one week...Anyway as suggested, I'd take another new one for a spin and see what you think. Maybe take the service manager for a spin in yours just to see what he thinks.

mine does the same thing, dealer said it was normal, but i have been driving a manual for 9 years now and never felt a shifter like this on a brand new car. so let me know if anyone finds out otherwise.

Was into the Dealer yesterday. I went for a drive with the Service Manager, ( WHO LOVES THE MODS i'VE DONE) and we went for a drive. He agrees that it is rough and abnormal. According to him, there are no places to lubricate. At his request, I am going to monitor it over the next few weeks - I will be driving about 1,500 kms. over the next week while on holiday. I will be back into the dealer mid-August for service and will have it looked at then. Will advise what is found!

The car actually has about 17,000 km on it now - it was purchased in May of this year (05). I will print these pics and have the dealer look at these points. THANKS
