Tranny Replacement

Post by McVibe »

Okay, I am a little sick and tired of having and Automatic vibe and I was wondering if it was actually possible to swap out my Auto tranny for a 5 or 6 speed manual tranny? I've got an 04 base vibe.

anything is possible but would require lots of modifications, ie: clutch, modifying the shift console, not to mention the manual transmission and any differences there might be in how it mounts.

Yea, I was thinkin it would definately be pricy esp. having to install the pedal and everything.

All said and done, you would be better off trading in the Auto for a Manual.

Yea, If I could find an 04 GT that was the same color, I would do it. When I was pickin out my vibe, I was either going to go with the base fusion Auto or a White 2 tone GT and I don't like white cars and I don't like the two tone look.

Try and stick with the fusion colour as its an awsome colour. Speaking of the colour, mine needs a bath... Anyway yeah, it would be a lot or work to do a swap. Might be easier to trade in on a GT but you won't get any new 04 GT anymore. Might have to go with a 05 GT as new 04 base or GT will be hard to get now.

Sure it could be done, how much time do you have? Buy a complete manual trans parts car, do the swap and sell the rest of the car off.
