Trying to install an aux adapter on my 03, help?

Post by Lunchboxx »

A friend of mine recently upgraded his stereo and let me have his aux adapter (http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=446). Seeing that my car was listed in the drop down box and that it should be compatible with "CD changer capable (CD/AUX button) Radios," I went ahead and took out my radio and plugged it in.Upon powering it back up, the radio worked fine and the CD player worked fine. I hooked up my mp3 player, hit CD/AUX and nothing... Per the instructions, I quickly hit next track twice then previous track twice and got nothing.I'm sure it is hooked up correctly (my multimeter is reading good, consistent voltage through it), but it's just not working. Everything is plugged in snug and tight, I'm running my 12v to the fusebox and the ground to the frame of the car, and I'm positive it isn't the mp3 player itself that's screwey (tested it with headphones not minutes ago).Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to get this working, or have any ideas on what I might be doing wrong? Would I be better off just spending $60 on ebay and getting a stock radio with a BAND button on it?Thanks in advance!

What year is your Vibe? From what I've read/tried those type of Aux devices won't work on the '03. The radio internally won't support it.The device (GM12-AUX version2) I had tried was also from PIE and I even called in advance to make sure it would work. They told me it would. But in the end it did not.Namron

Do you have "BAND" button or "AM/FM"? If the latter, that's your problem.

Not necessarily - crack open the aux adapter and move the jumper to the other option."1. Compatible with all 2003-05 XM capable (BAND button), or CD changer capable (CD/AUX button) Radios"My CD/AuX button isn't used to access the aux input - mine is BAND. I have to cycle through the FM1 FM2 and AM then it goes to Aux In.But I've read that this adapter >mayI had a helluva time finding a +12v constant... turned out my digital multimeter was set to KV... (doh... sonofa....) it's always the stupid crap that makes you waste your daylight.
