Which Tire to buy.

I'm getting ready to buy some new tires for the Vibe since I'm driving the 20 hours to houston at the end of the month and my OEM Goodyears are cupped really bad.The prices are per tire with mounting valve stems balancing etc. Included.

I saw the rating was slightly better for the Kuhmos, but the Fuzions have a 50,000 warranty where as the Kuhmos is 30,000

Well I just called and they won't be able to get the Kuhmos in before I leave as there distributor doesn't have any on hand.So it's the fuzions.

i definitely would have gone with the fuzions since they have the 50000 and they're slightly cheaper.

Here's another vote for the Khumo's -- their 420 treadwear rating is excellent.

Well the polling can be stopped now unless somebody else wants to choose between these as I ordered the Fuzions as that is what they could get in quick. I'll have new tire Friday afternoon.I'm debating on whether to have my snow tires put on my stock rims and then put the new tires on my chrome rims I bought for my snows. These are my snow ones.

I'm seriously considering the Yokohama AVID TRZ. They appear to be a good all-season tire.

I sold a set of the TRZ's on an Altima the other day, and a set of the new Kumho Solus's. The Solus's were quieter, and seemed IMHO to have more dry traction, and didn't squeal as much. Solus is available for our cars.

I've got just over 20K on my Kuhmo's and they're showing a little more wear than I expected. However, that's pretty subjective; I haven't checked the tread depth. I'll check with my guys @ Discount Tire and see what they think.

I put Hankook K106s on my new wheels and they seem to be really nice tires. Good in wet and dry and cheap from Discount Tire. $86 each I believe.

Has anyone tried Futura 200 LTe from Pep Boys?I'm on a budget and trying to balance ride / all-season traction vs. performance.Any thoughts are appreciated?

most of what pep boys sells is a Cooper tire. Which is not bad. But there is better. You often get what you pay for. Just don't fall into the jazz the place near me gives you. "we have the best prices on tires". "Plus we rotate for free. Snow tire change for free. " Well, I got my snows on for over $30 per tire than the "tire" place by me. They wanted way over $89/tire + $15 for mt & bal. on standard rims and more for the stick on weights we use on our aluminum rims. Just go to a place that does not just do tires. Because the tire guys jack up the prices on the snows in fall and tell you that there is a limited supply. I got my Vikings for $72 /tire ready to roll. If you want economy and performance llok at Hankook Mileage plus 2 H725 I think they are called. If you can get them...they retail for about $65 for our cars and have an aggressive pattern that consumer reports rated very hight overall. Do a search under Hankook. They have a site.

where did you find the vikings? I saw consumerreports ratings on them but could not find them. I ended up getting Dunlop wintersport M3's from tirerack but still want snows for my subbie. Thanks

Thanks for advice. I had settled on Pep boy Futura Touring HR which was H rated -- the LTe’s were S rated. (Were ever I looked I was advised to stick with H rated). They looked pretty good for the price 70/tire + 15 for mounting. About the cheapest I shopped around for. I also considered a Fuzion from a local place for about the same price but decided against it. Anyway at the store, they were out of the HR so the sales guy offered me Hankook Optimo Plus 2 (402) for the same price: $70 + $15. I took them, they had the same rating , 400AA, but have an odd tread patern. I haven’t found much on them after the fact, only found info in French on internet search: http://www.hankook.com.mx/opk402.htm.I hope they work out but anything is probably better than the Contis I had.

Merlin, I don't think stepping down to an S or T speed rated tire is such a bad thing. If nothing else, youi'd probably get longer wear. I had an 01 Hyundai Elantra that came with H rated Michilns that lasted only 23K. Replaced them with H rated Firestones which were good for about 27K. Replaced those with S rated Yokohama Avid Touring when the car had 50K miles. Got rid of the car at 70K miles and the Yoko's were still as good as new almost. Also worth noting is that even though I lost some conering ability overall the car rode nicer on the S rated Yoko's. Has anybody put S or T rated tires on their Vibe? If so, I'm just curious how it has affected the ride and handling. Can somebody tell me why it's suggested to stay with an H rated tire?Thanks,Dan

I'm suprised that no one has mentioned the Michelin HydroEdge. I put a set on my '03 because the Continentals were just too damned noisy. The HydroEdge are MUCH quieter and provide very good traction in both the wet & dry pavements.

I put a set on my '03 two years ago and the inside and outside edges are bald while there's 6/32" left in the middle on all foure tires. I would describe my driving as spirited not crazy, I don't spin the wheels but I do corner quite hard, not enough to slide though. I got 74,000 kms. they're rated for 140,000. Michelin offered 40% off either Pilots or MXV4s which are both "H" rated.

if yoiu haven't made up your mind yet...terrific tires for your vibe are the goodyear assurance triple treadespecially if you live in Nebraska. I put some on my vibeat 15,000 miles ( the continentals were awful) and 40,000 miles later the triple treads look almost new and are wonderful in the snow

I had a set of Fuzion tires on my 2004 Vibe and was extremely pleased with them.

Thanks for the advice on the tires, I'm getting the Michelin Primacy MXV4. It's supposed to be good for 100,000 kms. and with the 40% off the price is too good to switch brands.
