AWD reliability

Post by NSimkins »

Is the AWD system in the Vibe used previously in another vehicle platform? I was wondering what the reliability of the AWD system would be with this vehicle if it was new, and if not what issues there would be to look out for with the AWD version?I know, with obviously more moving mechanical parts, there is bound to be more of a risk of running into issues down the road.Any input would be appreciated.

"Unfortunately", the V-Flex system (AWD) is a new development from Toyota and it has never been used before. But, because this system only "comes ON" when one of the front wheel slips, the mecanical components are not solicited at 100%... then less chance of mechanical problems.But... it's brand new... more to come!

I'd like to bump this topic. I'm looking into getting another vibe into the family for my grandfather and was thinking about an awd but was wondering how everyones experiece was with them. I've read some people had problems, but is that common or are they the unlucky few?
