Removing the silver dash trim

Post by McVibe »

Yea I wanted to paint all of the silver dash trim in my car to match the orange exterior and I was wondering how the heck you get those bad-boyz out?

the left side vent, pulls out, pry from the lower left edge, might have to wiggle it. the center is going to be alittle different, pull up from the bottom center just below the radio, tilt up to unhook the hooks from dash, unclip the harness's and unhook the recirc cable. also might want to do the front door trim by the window/lock switchs' did that to mine and it looks SWEET!!

Well, needless to say, I didn't do them that weekend. lol but anyway can you remove the buttons and vents from the silver trim when you pull them out? because i would really like to get around taping them off...

The buttons, seat belt light, etc etc all snap into place so they can easily be removed. I *think* the vents screw on, but can't say for sure.

I think my extra radio bezel is currently in storage in Ohio or I would look at it... Unfortunately I've never paid much attention to that particular aspect of it.You might want to price out the cost of having it professionally painted though if you want to ensure a smooth finish. I know the regular spray paints kind of make it bumpy...not sure how picky you are though.

I think Ryan at Grafxwerks now makes things to put on the inside--might be worth checking into--could be a lot easier than removing the things! Don't know if he's got the fusion orange though...
