Mom came home this afternoon saying she thought she'd seen two G6 Coupes on the front of my dealer's lot...she was half right. One was a 4 door but sure enough, the red one was a coupe! Beautiful, beautiful car up close...I'd seen it in person at the auto show but it looks even better up close. I can't wait to see the electric blue in person. I know I looked like a freak out on the side of the road taking pictures of a car but hey...I was excited, and this car deserves it. I've attached the full-size shot of the sticker if you want to read it in detail...the price was $24K, and this is a GT, so not too awful. It had the panoramic roof too. Here are the pics:
Hmmm...not bad, but doesn't quite do it for me. The profile says Acura RSX ( http://www.acura.com/models/mo...e=rsx ), the taillights and rear fenders say Camry Solara Coupe ( http://www.toyota.com/vehicles....html ), and the trunklid is kind of a cross between the Solara Coupe and a BMW 6 series ( http://www.bmwusa.com/vehicles...y.htm ). Not that any of those are bad looking cars, but none of them really have a look that makes me drool. To me that's a huge part of buying a coupe...it would have to be drop-dead gorgeous or at least functionally attractive to make me want to lose the utility of 4 doors...functionally attractive being cars like the Mini or VW GTI...hatchbacks that have a purposeful, aggressive look to them.I dunno...I'd have to see it in person. That's pretty unlikely here in Korea, but I'll be back in the states for 8 days later this month, so I'll look for one then. Who knows...I might be converted and fall in lust with it!

Still haven't seen any here but I don't know why that should surprise me. Our dealership here has Pontiac, GMC and Subaru on one huge lot. Lots of Subaru Tribeca's but no G6 coupes. Something's wrong with that picture. Anyway, I think I'd have to see another color on the G6 or see the red one in person before I decide if I like it or not.
Eeek! Is that faux woodgrain trim on the console around the shifter? Very slick car. I'm still kinda iffy on some of the angles used around the back end... But as I see more in person, that may not be an issue. But with those lines, I think I'd have visibility problems back there. I though the Vibe's blind spots were pretty bad (actually swallowed an entire Excursion the other day!) but the G6 sure has that beat. Life is hard, we all have to make sacrifices. So I think this should be a good enough compromise. One thing that *is* an issue with the G6 is that putrid 2-tone beige/poop brown interior treatment. Not certain (removed) they were thinking when they were selecting shades of brown to use on this car's interior. I think that the G6 interior is one of the best I've ever seen come from the General in terms of layout, design, appearance, materials used, etc... But that only applies when in the dark grey color. This beige just takes all of that hard work and ruins every lil' bit of it, for me at leaast. And as a fella who doesn't mind fake wood one bit, I've gotta say it's completely uncalled for in this car. Yucky! And it looks even worse in person, as I have discovered when looking at 'em on the lot. Nauseating. But anyway, *ahem* kickass car from the outside. Dump the beige in favor of the dark grey and we're onto something. The price is really good too. Is it just me, or is the coupe a better bargain than the sedan? IIRC, I have found sedans on the lot for the same price roughly, and they didn't even have the stuff like the panoramic roof. GM, knock a few more thousand off the price and maybe I could afford it.

Yeah, the interior color could definitely be better, but it's still a sweet looking car. Very slopy in the back, not sure about visibility though, that could be a good point...I'm contemplating seeing if the guy who sold me the Vibe will let me take that coupe for at test drive... I don't like red cars, but it still looked good...can't wait to see that blue though, it looks sweet in this month's Pontiac Performance!! Electric blue with the grey interior...oh yeah...

I lose people, motorcycles, and small cars all the time behind the windshield pillars on my Grand Cherokee. The cars and motorcycles worry me...I'd end up denting the Jeep if I hit one. I'm not so worried about the people though...they should buff right out.

Great observations, soldierguy. I definitely see the body lines of the Solara (esp. the ridge down the side over the rear tires), as well as the Honda Accord Coupe. Also, in profile, looks like a stretched Infiniti G35 coupe. That said, basically, there's nothing new here. Too sleek for its own good, IMO.

Wait till you drive the GTP version. We are about to get one in and the powerplant is a 3.9L with 240HP and a 6speed tranny. The Vibe may haveto traded once the 2 door coupe GTP convertible. The convertible is going to be a hardtop retractable type.Shadow Realm

Noticed a dealer near my old store had a G6 coupe out front today. Was late and couldn't stop to check it out up close, but you can be sure I'm ALL over that as soon as I have time.

i think the coupe is alittle disgusting. the rear looks like it went to plastic surgry and it went horribly wrong. But this is my opinion though, not to get anyone agry or anything.
Hey, it's worth a shot. And I'm kinda thinking that I may be on to something, but you just like to see us all in pain there Mr. Raging!I hope you didn't get the beige interior with woodgrain.
