Your tune will change, believe me! Put yourself in my shoes and see what it's like being that one guy- it sucks, bigtime. And for the record, yes I have had issues with GM service. But honestly, there is very little that has gone wrong with this car that I can attribute directly to the General. The failure of a few HU's, and all of the other audio system components comes to mind. Aside from that, the horrible engine knocks, the power steering pump (and still isn't fixed, the new pump worked for a while but now has issues again, probably next will need another pump and rack-and-pinion,) the A/C compressor, the 16 MPG I'm getting and the fact that I can't pull a hill with confidence without slamming the tranny out of OD, and I'm now losing coolant again, etc. etc. etc... That's all equipment with Toyota stamped on it somewhere, or with one of Toyota's suppliers - denso, etc. I've owned and taken apart many a GM vehicle, and I know what GM stuff looks like - and this car has very little of that.Whether GM can service the car properly is a moot point at this time, since if a Toyota is as good as everyone seems to think, I shouldn't have to bring the thing in for service in the first place.I'm not conviced if this car were a Matrix that Toyota would be willing to help me out either... When I tried to seek assistance with the knock last year, they completely blew me off with their arrogant "Toyota's don't have problems" attiude and became even worse when I mentioned that the engine was in a "GM product." Toyota dealer saying that they never, ever, ever do valve adjustments on the 1ZZ? What?Quote »A widespread problem is different from a remote one. Certainly is, but I feel these cars still have a lot of defects that need to be resolved. And they were things that they should have fixed after '03 and chocked it up to being "new car bugs." But they didn't. Over the last month, how many water leaks have we read about? How many strange noises, squeaks, rattles? Paint quality? Just about all of us have had the same issues at one point in time, and if that stuff isn't widespread I don't know what is. But anyway.
