Republic Tires - Opinion?

Post by esjones »

I stopped into my local Goodyear store today to get a quote on new tires for the Vibe. I was comparing against the Kumho ECSTA 716 tires that I had already priced at Tire Discounters.Goodyear offered an "Enterprise" model from Republic Tires. The sales weasel said that the line is made by Kelly-Springfield. In the UTQ codes, the Republic is better in treadwear than the Kumho, but traction and temperature are the same - A.Any opinions or knowledge here about Republic? It happens to be one of the brands printed on the guy's business card, right below Goodyear and Dunlop. Thanks.

You wouldn't be able to get them in the States if they were from Cuba. Don't you guys have a trade embargo on Cuba? Edit: This is not a political thread. Just asking a question.

It's an entry level private label tire from Goodyear, who owns Kelly-Springfield, and Dunlop too. IMHO I'd go with the Kumho's; we have sold them for over 2 yrs now, and have never had a warranty issue (in other words, never had a tire come back that was unbalancable, had a tread problem, ect) I can't say the same for Gooodyear brands.

Quote, originally posted by silverawd26 »Isnt it the Republic of Cuba? I would stay away from anything that says Republic in it...Are you serious? The official name of many countries contains the word "Republic." Does that have anything to do with what kind of tires they might manufacture? If this was humor and it escaped me.....
