Post by scvibe30 »

anyone installed the unorthodox pulleys and how much hp could be gained. i have a base 04 vibe auto. i am thinking bout doing injen(cai),magnaflow(exhaust),and pulleys.oh yeah and maybe header. but wat i am guessing my base base having 130hp i should see a 20-30hp gain after i do all or will i see more or less. please give me sum input...oh yeah when we getting taillights......

Low teens, maybe 15 with header. The pulleys are a bigger problem on the GT but the gains are small regardless.

I had to get the unorthdox crank pulley and AEM True power alternator pulley. I liked the quicker launch off the line and quicker shifting when I want to pass. I've had thme for about 4 month's now and no major problems. My belt has been squeeling lately though. At first it was just during idle. sprayed some WD-40 and it instanly went away for a few days. Now, when the engine is on the colder side it squeels when I take off or load on the engine. I'll get it checked out soon, but does any one have any reasons for this? It's coming from the pulley just behind the alternator I think.I also finally got the DC Header to work. When it's really hot out it still leaks a little. But it'll work until I get boosted. I can't say what HP I'm at with everything, but it will spank most N/A Civics and even one turboed civic. Most VW Jetta's, Cavaliers, Neons, Saturns and a few Preludes. Don't try a turbo Eagle Talon, Those are fast! (saw one hit low 11's @ the track!)

Squealing?Perhaps your pulleys aren't aligned properly?

Don't oil your pulleys to stop a squeek and your not taking anything turboed that's trying with a base and probably not a prelude with any vibe that isn't blown. It can do sub 2 sec 60' with a good driver.

I used the oil to help me trouble shoot what's wrong, not to fix the problem. It turns out that the belt was worn out and slipping. And about taking a turboed civic, I did and so has about everyone else in this city. Only a single cam engine and tiny assed turbo with 1 3/4 inch piping to and from his shoe box sized intercooler. And yes I did take on a couple of Preludes and beat one silly and yes he was trying, all 3 times. It was stock except for a large exhaust. The other Prelude was more built and would take me off the line a good 2 car lengths but had little mid range power. It wasn't easy but I did catchup and sneek past him.[mechanical breathing] "You underestimate the power of the base Vibe" [mechanical breathing]
