Unattached A/C pipe bracket

Post by micbarric »

Yesterday I noticed that the brass/rubber A/C pipe clamp located on the upper pipe (see picture) is attached to a bracket that is left hanging. The unattached end of this bracket is hook shaped.I'm guessing this bracket was used during assembly and not meant to be bolted down, hopefully not a problem. Anyone else noticed this?

I'll see if I can take a look later on...never noticed it, though.. But then, never really looked before.

Since my original post I have been able to view a number of Vibe engine pictures from both eBay Motors and the gallery section here at genvibe. The picture I attached with this post (dial-up users, sorry for the large size) has a yellow arrow pointing to the lower part of a TWO part bracket assembly. This lower bracket was not installed on my Vibe for some reason, which explains why the upper bracket was left hanging. Looks like I'll be visiting the dealer to have them order and install this missing part!Anyone with a Vibe built around the time mine was, August 2004, may want to check to see if this part is missing on their Vibe.(Sorry, can't get the pic to attach. Will try again later. Yes, it is below the 4M size limit)

The screen where you can upload a file says that the file can not be larger than 4000000 bytes, but it is wrong, the actual limit is close to 1,000,000 bytes, I forget the actual numberwindows bitmaps are one of the least efficient image formats. If you're using MS Paint, load the image in paint and select File -> Save As. In the window that pops up, at the bottom where it says Save as type:, select JPEG. It will save it as .jpg file that will be a lot smaller.for example, the first pic you uploaded was a bmp file, 901 KB. I loaded it in paint, saved it as a jpeg, and the new file was only 70KB.

Thanks for the info joatmon! The file I tried to attach was 1.4M so it was probably too big. On the PC I'm using, MSPaint does not allow jpeg conversion due to the fact that MS Office has never been loaded on this system before(?)I used a free program called "irfanview" to convert the file. http://www.irfanview.us/Hope this works:

I'll try to run by the dealer later today before they close. I wanted to wait for an afternoon with some time to kill before taking it in. I doubt very much that the part will be in stock but I'm sure they will require a tech to check and verify the part is missing.

Yesterday my dealer installed the missing lower bracket, part #88972213. It took about 10 days for them to get the part which had to be special ordered. The service advisor showed me the package the part shipped in and two things on the label stood out:"Genuine GM Parts" and "Made in Japan"...probably a Genuine Toyota Part. The service advisor also said they checked all their new Vibes for the bracket but none were missing. If they should find another Vibe without the part, the proper people at NUMMI will be notified.
