matrix vs vibe...

Post by tangerine »

Everyone i know is wanting me to get another hatchback and try and remake what i lost so if i decided to get a matrix are there more exterior mods for them than matrix? Between the new front ends and how few mods there are for the vibes is the only thing turning me away from getting an 05 or 06 vibe.

yes, there are more exterior a/m parts for the trix. but the main issue (to me) remains the same: UGLY! now, some people may like the space pod look, that's totally fine for them. but that is the ONLY reason I didn't get one when I bought my vibe gt back in 03. upside to the trix is that they do hold much better resale value, more a/m parts, and when you take it into the dealership, they will actually know something about the car (for the most part)! lol.

I looked at both and got the Vibe GT over the Matrix XRS mainly because it was LESS ricey. The XRS has too much add on crap IMO.Any engine and suspension mods are interchangable IIRC.

There's always more stuff for the Matrix and if you buy new, you'll get a better warrantee. The XR and XRS already have skirting. All that said, I'm not into the Matrix look. A little to ricey and slab sided in the rear quarter but I'm also not into the new Vibe nose either. If you drop a Matrix you'll have to watch out for parking curbs etc. My Vibe has TRD springs and I'm ok with speed bumps parking and whatever. It's as funtional as stock and doesn't look slamed. Just right for me and the cops. No need to get profiled. I'd get a used GT with the right nose and give it some funtional mods and leave the body alone until it worked just like I want it. Just my opinion.

and if you are thinking hatchback, also consider the hot new mazda 3! those are very very nice looking if you had a base vibe. plus, more standard features, etc. also, check out the saab linear or aero (wrx in gm cladding) with that GM employee discount, i hear the turbo model is about $19K! http://www.saabusa.com/saabjsp/92x/index.jsp

Good call. If you need an auto and can live with less space, the 3 is the ticket. It's a lot faster than a base.

true, the wrx/saab and mazda3 are much smaller hatches. still, when it comes to functionality, the vibe is better as it does come w/ roof racks. and yes, i agree with goodvibes as a used GT is the best, especially the 03 years since they are rated as the highest hp.

I'm 6'3 so I can't get much smaller of a car, heh. I'm into the ricer look but everyone is making their cars look like spaceships now i don't get it. I may just end up waiting till this fall and getting the SS trailblazer my dad just found surfing the net helping me look. pending on what they price that at...

You sure you're thinking of the right car? The tC is the little coupe. The xB is the big boxy thing.

Get another Vibe. You can have 2-tone.

I'm just gonna save up money for the next six months and pay cash for a GTO and be done. If i decide i want to get back into sound competitions later and more parts start coming out for the vibes I'll get a used vibe and redo it.

i agree, i dislike the 2 tone. i like monotone on any vehicle. but 2 tone has a purpose, if you live in areas that may rip up the paint, i guess it's better to rip up the cheap plastic than the paint... and the scion tc is one very HOT car! get what you like for sure...

The 2 tone comment was in regards to the hot pics. One black and one green. Why choose if they're both available? I only like the 2-tone in shadow and I like that a lot. Of course I own one. I spend too much time in Chicago to have to worry about bumper scrapes. No one notices it's not painted. Just a different finish.
