Editing a post

Post by Baltovibe »

This seems strange ... when I try to edit a post that I had previously made, I get the message "You are not authorized to edit threads."Am I doing something wrong, or has my permission level been diminished? The post in question was in the "Testing 123".Thanks!

works for me. You were able to edit it once to include the uploaded image in with the post text.If you are not loggged in, then you get a message about needing to log in to edit posts. If you are logged in and try to edit someone else's post, then it tell you that you can only edit your own posts. If a thread is locked it tells you it's locked. I haven't seen the error message you got. Can you edit other posts?

Make sure you click on the Edit link next to your actual post, not the grey Edit button. See the attachment below.Click the link in the red square, not the blue square. Only moderators/admins can edit the actual thread properties.Hope this helps.

And make sure you're clicking on the one that's above your post and not the one below, too. I've done that a few times.

I was clicking on the blue square!Thank you so much for the clear explanations and the speedy replies! And Kari, is it possible to edit other member's posts?P.S. - In this same forum (Site Problems, etc), I thought there was a thread called "Forum Main Page" or something of that nature that had a few responses, and also had a few "stickies" threads. I don't see them now. Any idea??

Any idea??Unfortunately, that thread had to be deleted because it became corrupt when we had the database problem a couple days ago.As far as I know, that really was the only main thread that had to be removed.

You'll get that same message about not having permission if you click on a link that doesn't go with your particular post, unless you're a moderator and are in the forum you moderate (or are a global mod). That would be a nice feature, wouldn't it? LOL Spelling errors, no more!
