Greetings,I have read about a hiss in the speakers on M&T systems in some 2003 posts. But, mine is a 2005. Do people still experience a hiss. You can hear it in the speakers even when a cd is between songs of if there is no other sound (but not when the radio is off). I assume its from the amp, but I didnt know if I should have if looked at or if thats just the way it is.Similarly, I am shocked by how large the volume intervals are. The lowest setting is definitely a lot louder than you would expect. Do people have this same complaint? Thanks,Ben
i didn't have any trouble with my speakers when i had the stock head unit, but i did when i first replaced it. the aftermarket unit + the amp meant i had very little control over the volume. after i installed the product linked to below, i've been trouble free. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-T...M%2D2

For such a minor flaw I find it incredibly irritating. You're sitting in the car, engine off, wanting some quiet news or whatever, and the *&^$ volume control leaves the radio either off or WAY too loud! It's one of those things that makes me wish I was the omnipotent leader of both GM and Toyota, and could summons the twit who made it so before me, demand an explanation and fire his a$$ on the spot if he didn't have an absolutely fabulous explanation.
Ha ha. Yeah. So, i'm not the only one annoyed by this. Do you have a hissing noise? (it's not too loud.. but loud enough to be annoying) One way to test it is to turn the balance on the radio all the way to one side, say the right, and listen to the left speaker. I can clearly hear an annoying hiss when I do this.
This is an inherent flaw in what appears to be most Delphi manufacturer electronics systems. Our 05 G6 has the premium sound as well, and it has the same hissing noise. It's irritating as all hell, and I hope my Solstice or G6 down the line (whenever that is) has a better system.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
By the way, there is one rather annoying way to get around the large intervals if they bother you that much. You can turn down your levels to the minimum (bass, treble, mid) and then you have a much finer control with the volume switch. However, you have no control over your levels then. just a thought. This does not get rid of the hiss though.
