I've seen atleast three of these in the last two weeks and finally got one of these elussive creates on camera. I know it's a Chevy but what the hell else is it? Looks like a boxy/wagon/squished/small version of the SSR!

Oooh, the HHR! My dad was telling me about those, they're supposed to be PT Cruiser competition, they run around the Tech Center all the time. I haven't seen one in person or even on the road though. Soon enough, I'm sure. Maybe the padre can bring one home - he brought home a top-secret '06 C6 Corvette (six-speed auto and paddle shifters, that's what's top secret!) as well as a Solstice.
HHR eh? I thought I saw a bunch of letters on the back. Sounds like some kind of chemical bond between like Hydrogen and Radium or something (removed)! It looked pretty sharp in person.

it is built om the cobalt platform and has the 2.4 180 hp ecotec engine.....all the same features as the vibe...but we dont have to worry about the faluty toyota build quality in it....for all u guys like me with the squeaks and rattles.lots of room in this bad boy too....i think it shows Gm is on the road to making alot better and more useful cars.

there is no way that thing is based on the cobalt platform. it's huge. I've seen them at the dealership, uuuuugly. or maybe I saw the new mini van trailblazer thingy. ugly also. Trust me, I drive old fj40's and dodge raiders, I know ugly.
Quote »One of the biggest stories out of January's 2005 Los Angeles auto show was the introduction of the 2006 Chevrolet HHR. Based on the same platform as Chevy's new Cobalt compact car, the HHR is a retro-styled tallboy wagon that takes styling cues from the '49 Suburban and today's SSR convertible sport truck (the latter based on the Chevy Trailblazer SUV).http://www.vehix.com/pages/res...20HHRYep, it is a Cobalt underneath.--And--Quote »but we dont have to worry about the faluty toyota build quality in it....(removed)! Damn, that's funny! And I'm not going to disagree with you there, for I've seen far too many new GM cars that were screwed together a hell of a lot better than these Toyotas. Mine especially, that car just sucks!

Vibe_DudeI agree. I would love to trade the Vibe in for the HHR. However, I took the cheap financing instead of the cash rebate, so I owe more than I can get for it. Also, I am at 66k miles, so that will not help. I guess it will be the car my daughters drive, with all the squeaks and rattles.

it seems around here on the highway, if there is a little back up, there is a pt cruiser in the lead, holding up traffic. they are like the modern day chevette.

I remember when the concept of hte PT Cruiser first aroused it was called the Pronto Cruiser and it was really sleek/flat/low to the ground. Looked like an old hotrod instead of a recreated attempt at an old hotrod.I have to admit they were the ones to start the retro car fad and personally I think they did a good job. The only reason I think people hate them is becasue Chrysler made the mistake of over producing them so they lost their prestigeousness. Kind of like Mustangs, or atleast in my opinion. Even the new 2005s I can't stand them because they are EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!! And I have yet to see a guy driving one. They only guy I saw driving one was a kid that looked like he was 12 with his gangsta sideways hat and ugly 20" rims.
Too much sheet metal, IMO. And what the heck is up with that rear bumper? Looks like it's stickin' out at least a foot (I can hear it now..."HHR got back").
