New to GenVibe!

Post by VGT »

I've lurked here since I bought my 05 Vibe GT back in November. It's nice to see a place that's enthusiastic about thsi great little car. Before I had a 98' GMC Sierra Ext Cab and an 02' TrailBlazer LS 4x4. I feared the loss of cargo space, but am pleasantly suprised that I fit 4 adults, 4 golf bags and 4 suitcases in there with room to spare. I bought the Vibe GT for several reasons:1. Manual Transmission. Tired of Auto-slushboxes and was happy to hear the GT ONLY came with a 6 speed.2. Gas mileage. This car gets 1mpg less than my wife's 04' Saturn Ion 2 with the ecotech in it. Big Plus.3. Was that it HAD to be a GM. Since GM only offers manuals in certain products, I had it narrowed down between a Cobalt SS, Saab 9-3, Silverado Ext cab 4x4, Colorado Z71.4. Looks. Very aggressive with the Sport Package (Dual Spoilers), Monotone appearance and revised front end.5. Cargo space. Mentioned above.6. XM Satellite Radio. Yeah, I could get that on almost all the GM cars, but I felt like adding that. 7. Feel. This car feels right. Takes the turns ever so nicely with the 18's and the sport suspension. The size si right for me. 6'4" and 230lbs. 8. Price. The price was rather nice. I have it maxed out too, except for leather, which I didn't want anyways. The only thing I wish it has was more power and ran on 87 grade fuel.Other than that, I love my car. Some people call Vibe's ugly or chick cars, but whenever they see mine, or ride in it, they always change their tune. Especially Focus drivers. I'm not a tuner guy by any respect, because I'd rather have a nice V8 RWD (The GTO's were sold out here when they were runing for 219/m before the 05 model changeover.) But, for a car I consider to be a little "Tuner/Ricer" type class, I'd say it's won me over. Here's some pics for ya.

Either those are old pics or you have the stock 17" rims, not 18's. I think it looks awesome and I could only recommend MAYBE a short drop and some nice rims. Otherwise, I think it looks great! Congrats on the new Vibe and welcome to the site!

Now that I look at the pics more and think about it, here's what I would do:Dark tintremove roof rack and put carbon fiber caps from RKSportget a Mr Grill billet grill from ebay and have it painted gloss blackblack overlays and reflector covers from grafxwerkssmoke out the fogs, reverse lights, and tail lightsprojectorz black covers or blackout lenses for the headlightsdrop kitsome nice glossy black 18-19" rims with a chrome lipJust black-out the whole car! I think it would look sweet as hell, but probably a bunch of that stuff would be illegal depending on where you live! Just my $0.02!!!!

Sharp looking car, buddy! I had an '04 with the sport package, and I think it added to the car's appearance SO MUCH. Good luck, happy modifying!

It's a lease, so I'm keeping it stock. It's all I need, but the car is more than plain. That's how I like things.

I feel your pain on the "It's a lease" front. So happy keeping it stock, either way, enjoy it.Oh and I also must compliment you on your signature, very nice, me gusta.

hey, that looks a lot like mine... i've only had my 05 a couple of months, but i love it too. enough power that it's fun to drive, and enough economy that i'm saving nearly $80/mo in gas over my previous vehicle. welcome aboard.

welcome to the boards! i had an 03 satellite VGT that i recently traded for an 05 Legacy GT Lmtd. Do miss it sometimes, especially the cargo space and great gas mileage! i'm only averaging 20 mpg due to the turbo awd system.

Just when you think the upgrade is perfect, you find out there was something good about the way you had it!! (Vibe GT)That AWD!! It's a gas killer!!.For me, I thoght a turbo would be killer. It is. But gas mileage suffers. I thought new motormounts would stop the wheel hop. They do. Yet, I feel so much more Vibration in the cab. I thought the new flywheel would help accelertion and shifting. It does. It also makes it easier to stall. Oh well!!!Welcome to the boards! Your Vibe Looks Awsome!!!congatulations!!!
