Some idiot banged up my vibe with a home depot cart

Post by logiola »

Now i have a small dent, and four sections of yellow paint on my two month old vibe.. i am sooo sad and pissed about this.. why the hell is it so hard for lazy people to take back their damn carts.. my question: what is the best way to get that yellow crap off my car? i have tried soap and water and some degreaser i had with no luck..

One of the Matrix Owners I recently met had a cart hit her bumper. She said she used the Mr Clean Magic Eraser and it took it right off. I can't recommend it though since I don't know if it'll scour the clearcoat or not. I just know it worked for her.

it sucks, cause it was not a normal shopping cart.. it was the huge (removed) metal ones you use to take drywall out of the store.. i looked at it again and the dent is about 3 inches long.. boy am i pissed off..

Less than a week after we got our fusion Vibe, the gf noticed several yellow marks on the front bumper as well. The clay took them right off, but it did take some elbow grease.Make sure to re-wax the area after claying, as it will remove whatever is currently on the car.

Well, rest assured, I work at Farmer Jacks grocery store and I would allways watch out for other people's cars. Sometimes I would actually dive to catch a cart headed for a car even if the owner didnt even care. I HATE lazy people that don't walk their lazy @$$es to the cart return so the wind doesn't blow thema ll over the place!!!!!! So I'm sure other people out there like me watch out for your car in the parking lots every now and then

Man, that's really suck! I hate it that happened. I hate lazy people who won't return cart to return cart spot. You're not only one have that problem. Our Vibe did get bumped cart few times. We started park our Vibe in really wide open parking spot that have no cart or car.

i say use the mr clean eraser thing. ive seen it in action and it really works! i dont think it would harm the clear coat, its smooth and not rough.

A few years ago at the now defunct Builders Square I returned such a cart to the front of the store. It sat there for a minute or so and then started rolling down a slight slope and hit a car that had stopped in front of the store. While I didn't think that was my fault, my insurance company paid the bill - I think they covered it on the liability part of my homeowner's policy. In that case, I wish I had just left it in the lot.Call your insurance agent - perhaps the damage is covered by the comprehensive (sp) coverage. My comp is $50 deductible; collision $500.

That sucks dude! I do paintless dent removal, you should bring it over and I'll fix the dents!

I agree with drunkenvibe....I've used it on mirrors and all kinds of stuff...it's not coarse or anything...and you can also use Meguiar's Cleaner Wax - clearcoat safe...I've used it a lot and it works great...

I had one taken out of my front fender that my son accidentally put in it with his bike handle. The other was on the hood and was put there by someone at the dealers while it was in for a repair. It cost me 75 dollars for the one on the fender. I'm just happy my 03 is still dent free I also park in BFE.

You can also try some rubbing, or polishing compound. It is pretty much like wax but it is slightly abrasive. It is used primarily on older cars to remove some of the older paint to make it shiny. Make sure you get the stuff that is safe for clearcoat.

thanks guys

for all the help.. i will try to find some "clear coat friendly" rubbing compound and give it a shot.. also going to look into the dent removal.. if the car was a few years old i would not care, but i have had it for less then two months so it makes it hard to live with a dent
