Whats the advantage of carbon fiber ?

Post by iinan »

It may seem like a silly question, but can someone take a quick moment and explain the Adavantages of a Carbon fiber hood (or other mod). Is it a weight reduction or a custom look? or both? Thanks in advance for any response

Carbon fiber is extremely light (and strong). I personally don't like the look of it, at first glance it looks to me like they coulnd't afford to have the hood painted. I have seen some full carbon fiber front ends and roofs on some BMWs that ARE painted, looks much better IMO.

Most people use it for show. However its REAL purpose is for its high heat resistant levels making its use in engine parts and covers in those high class cars like Lambo and such.

Normally carbon fiber is black woven and black goes with just about any other color so I think it looks good. Carbon fiber also costs alot more so it would make more sense to me to show off what you paid for unless you are a real racer or sleeper.

Real racers don't try to show off a hood or a CF wing. Ricers on the other hand try to show off every mod they possibly can that makes you THINK their car is fast. When in all reality, it's just a dinky 4 banger with a fart cannon.

I wouldn't paint cf unless it was just plain ugly. Most people like it for it's looks. I've had many positive comments on what I've used cf on and I'll continue to use it as long as I use it tastefully.

Yeah I'd have to go with that too. I like the looks of it. Vibes wont EVER be fast so they may as well take all the hoods and such and burn them lol. Useless getting exaust and Cold air then too, all it does is make your car SOUND fast right? They hardly do anything as far as hp is concerned.

I personally don't like the look, but your car is black. It blends in with black. Maybe I should change my statement, if you are getting a CF hood, it should only be color matched to your paint.I am sick of ricers around here with a red car with a black CF hood.

The CAI gives us a whopping 11hp, which is descent but not when it brings the grand total to about 141 lol I personally have the Borla axel-back which gives me anywhere from 0-5 horse power, although I have GT exhaust on my base so maybe the wider pipes help me out a little more? I don't think any one has actual proof that the borla contributes any added power or not.Although now that I think about it Poopy, you're right. You should only get carbon fiber that matches your car. Good example: Red car with black or gunmetal wheels, and blacked out/carbon fiber tail lights. BAD example: Yellow car, chrome wheels, euro tail lights, any color neons. The carbon fiber would look really good on an Abyss two toned Vibe in my opinion since it's black and gray woven material, it matches the black car and gray cladding. Too bad that group buy went to hell
