Since the car was ordered 5 weeks ago, last Wednesday, May 25, I asked my dealer when I can expect to receive it. He had no answer, but after making some phone calls informed me that the order has been on hold because lava red is no longer available. Obviously, I was surprised that GM had not told the dealer to let me know so another color could be chosen. The dealer now has ordered salsa red for me as a "rush" order and has said that he will give me the same deal we agreed upon. I had heard the last build date for 2005 models is June 2. Can anyone shed more light on this situation, or maybe I'll get lucky and get a 2006 model instead? Is it any wonder that GM is having so many problems if my experience is typical? I understand that in a couple days GM will announce that everyone can buy a 2005 at employee prices. Would that be any better than the various rebates in effect previously? Or, wishful thinking, that some rebates would still apply? Thanks for any advice!
GM would have told the dealers through messages in the GMDealerWorld application. Because GM is discontinuing the color, they would have restricted that color from being ordered. Therefore, the dealer should have been aware of the issue. The Vibes take longer for a retail sold order, because they are sequenced by Toyota. If you ordered a GM vehicle on Tuesday, and it is built at a plant in your area, you could have that vehicle 9 days later.
