maaco ballparked colormatching my cladding at 400$is that a good deal, too much?i know maaco is sketchy, but i dont want to spend alot of money to get top quality paint when maaco can get it done for cheaper

I have seen some maaco paint jobs.They would have to pay me to let them touch my stuff.

IMHOInstead of using them!Go buy yourself a few cans of self etching primer$20.00 each, a few cans of touch up paint $5.00 each and a few cans of clear $5.00 each.Total $90.00 + some tape and paper.You might end up with a much better paint job that will last, without a large number of runs.

no, it's acid based.It grips to almost anything including wax and dirt.of course "Finish master" could custom mix you some spray cans with flex in them.

no way im going to try to paint car like thati dont know how and things i paint usually dont turn out so wellill go down there and see whats up next month when i have money

My parents had a car painted at Maaco about 7 years ago. They never really waxed it after the paint and it did fade but it largely stayed on. There was one spot that peeled. A rock hit the paint and the combined damage from moisture and heat peeled the paint. Maaco had given us a pint of paint that was left over so I sanded and airbrushed the spot before they gave the car to my brother. It's looks good and should stay that way. I can't say they were all that bad for painting an entire car for $200 but don't expect a show quality paint job.

When I sold cars, and A customer need paint work done there were only a couple shops I would use.I would call for a quote and tell them It had to be prefect, if not we would be living with them.They would qoute it a bit higher then normal, but the job would come back flawless. Painting is really an art, some have it and some don't.also the more time they spend the better it is.Painters get jobs and pay based upon there skill.Your not going to be find macco painting a true Someone dream car.Some say Factory paint is the best, it isn't!it's the best the average person will have.It's a production line paint job usally done by robots, and there only as good as the person teaching them.I know a guy that paints out of his home, and his first question is usally do you want factory reproduction or custom.factory reproduction could be as high as 2 or 3 grand.Most of his custom work I have seen is in the 10's of thousands.People ship to him from all over the USA.I'm kinda of pickyhere is a few pictures of my attemp at it, Someday I'll finish the page.I didn't use body filler!http://gunwraps.com/zm6.htm

Cheap!!!!!!!!!!!Your best bet would be to ask people you know for refferences, Check with your local Better Business B..Call around and get prices.Find out which A dealers in your area don't have Bodyshops, then ask who does there work.You have a fairly new car! You really don't want the guy selling you your paint work to ask you. Brush or Roller?

Maaco quality varies shop to shop and who works there. Some shops suck. Some have really good guys there that actually care. Don't expect any prep work though. I would say if you want the best quality, take off your cladding and just bring that in. Bringing it on the car is asking for disaster. Your wheel wells and tires will most likely end up getting painted. If you do bring in the car, do your own prepwork and tape everything off. Also use a set of junk rims.

That works on metal. The cladding isn't metal.

Self etching primer is used on metal to elimate whatever rust may actually be left/started and properly prep the surface for the next coat. Any wax or dirt that's underneath is still going to cause problems.And flex agent evaporates out. They use it to allow them move pieces around before it's fully cured.

i dont knowi mean if a place sucks people wont go therethe internet is notorious for turning one persons bad expirence into 500 peoples bad expirencewe will wait and see when i get the money how this goes
