For Injen CAI owners...What kind of filter maintenance/warranty do you have?

Post by Triton »

I am seriously considering purchasing an Injen CAI for my Vibe GT. But I am curious as to what kind of maintenance you have to do for the filter and what kind of warranty is offered through Injen for it?I have compared it to the K & N Typhoon kit, and everyone knows the million mile warranty that comes with a K & N and the maintenance on the filter consists of washing it and lubricating it. Are the care instructions similar for Injen's filter?Any information in this area would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

as far as i know, you can use the k&n filter charger kit on the injen filter. as far as the warranty, i don't know, but you can check the site...http://www.injen.com

I checked Injen's website and this is what I found: Are filters covered by the warranty? No. Filters should be cleaned/changed as regular maintenance for optimal performance of the product and are therefore not covered by warranty. If shipping damage has occurred, claims must be made with freight carrier. If I do get one, I will probably replace the filter after 10,000 miles with a K & N replacement. That would probably be optimal. Let me know what you think.

I would keep the one Injen designed for the intake. Just use K&N filter charging kit on it as directed.

When you say charge it, do you mean clean it and oil it as you would a K & N?One website I seen said that the Injen CAI uses a K & N filter. I emailed them to confirm that and I am waiting to hear back from them. Do you know if this is true?

Yes, to clean and oil it is what I meant. As for as if it is a K&N filter, I have no idea. It may be. I wouldnt replace it with a new one, though. Just my thoughts.

I would not replace the filter if you could use the K & N recharge kit as you suggested. It would be better to keep the original filter. Have you recharged yours yet?
