Getting a Salsa '05 Vibe, Upcoming Show, What to do?

Post by ProVibe »

Hi Guys,Haven't been around in a while but I'm back and have been reading up on some stuff I want to do to my new Vibe. Her'es the skinny...If God permits I will be picking up my new Salsa '05 Vibe after work today and I am so excited. I already have a set of chrome wheels I bought on eBayhttp://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...WN:ITI also bought several decals and vynils for the windows and sides but now I'm not so sure I want to put them on her.You see, there is a car show every year (june 12th) in my town, not a big deal but it's pretty cool. I've seen some amazing cars there aswell as some not so amazing but seeing that I'm getting the new Vibe and will be adding the wheels I was thinking of entering but I have some doubts maybe you guys can help me out. I want to join but but as of today all I would have is a base vibe with 17" Chrome rims with some decals. So basically I feel like my car is not worthy of being in a show, atleast not yet. What do you guys think? Do you guys have any ideas as to how to make it worthy of being at a show? This is what I have so far and will be installing in my Vibe:1. 17" Chrome Wheels http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...WN:IT2a. JVC DVD Player http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...WN:IT2b. 7" In Dash Monitor2c. Custom painted (Salsa) Xbox3. Headligh Flame Decals http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...WN:IT4. Custom Windshiled Decal. I selected #116 with the name "Positive Vibe" http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...WN:IT5. VVT-I Decals http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...WN:IT6. Vibe Brake Decal http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...WN:IT7. Foot pedal Lighting in front8. Lighting in hatch9. Pioneer 6.5" in doors10a. 2 12" Sony Xplods in box.10b. 2 Pioneer 6x9's in enclosures.10c. 1000 watt Pyramid Ruby Red Amp for subs10d. 400 watt Pyramid All America Amp for 6x9's10e. 1.0 Farad Capacitor, Equalizer and distribution blockI think thats it. Wow! reading back, now I think I should be ok, but a lot of this stuff is not seen to the naked eye. The hatch setup would look something like this http://www.samuelmateo.com/pic...os=13Some of the things I'm thinking of adding if the budget and time permits (the show is only a few weeks away):1. Injen CAI http://www.ptuning.com/html/It...=Vibe2. Sway and Tie Bar http://www.ptuning.com/html/It...=Vibe3. Lowering Springs (Sugestions would be great) Now, I've been to this show almost every year for the last 5 years and not once have I seen a Vibe or even a Matrix for that matter so I like that. I would be one of the firsts if not the first to showcase a Vibe at this show.So basically I would love your opinion on wether or not I should enter the show as is or should I wait till I have a better suited (modded) Vibe? Would my Vibe make you guys proud at this show? Thanks guys!

my honest opinion, which is worth not much on such things but you asked, is that a stock car with different wheels and some stickers doesn't really qualify as a show car. I can't say how much of the other stuff you ought to do before you enter it into a show, but at least something more than wheels and stickers.

That's exactly why I asked. Your opinion is greatly appreciated.Mind you that I've seen people at this show with less then what I would be entering with. Last year one guys had a stock Scion xB with wheels and thats it. Again this is a not a grandiose show by any means but its ok.But I'm still not sure if I should.

I haved no idea how to do that. But that would be very interesting. Cool idea but not really in my budget right now. How much does that costs, I'm assuming it's a pretty penny.

Show it off dude. There's nothing wrong with putting a "lightly" modded car in. Especially if it has never been represented in the show before.Entering this year will just give you more room to show yourself up for next year's show .

I would consider a few performance mods before entering it into a show.

Are those not good enough or are they not considered performance mods? Which performance mods do you suggest? Thanks.

Oh, I missed those The CAI is a nice start but the other 2 mods are purely visual (IMO)I would suggest an exhaust, maybe a unichip. If you really feel like dumping some money, turbo or SC.

What do these mods do?Whats a unichip?WoW! Ok, as for the exhaust, generally for the best performance you cut everything off from the catalytic converter back, install larger exhaust piping, and use a higher performance muffler such as Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Borla, etc.... This will help in addition with the CAI to ease and increase the flow of air in and out of your engine, thus increasing the performance and making it sound a lot better!SC does stand for super charge, or supercharger. Right now you can get one from the dealer for about $3000, adding roughly 30% power to your car. Another good thing about this is that it is also still covered under warranty, but only if you use the one from GM.As for the unichip, this is a chip that sort of reprograms your cars computer to allow it to perform at its maximum ability and also allows you to program it to work better for aftermarket additions (i.e. intake, exhaust, supercharger, etc...). Hope this helps some. Please correct me anybody if I am wrong or if I missed something.

I think I'm starting to come around to Mase's point of view. Given enough time and money you can create an ultimate show vibe, but for now just enter the car in the show. If you really want it to stand out as a Vibe of distinction, then be sure to install one of the genvibe logos from grafxwerks.com
