A Few Mods - I

Post by BlueCrush »

I completed a few mods over the weekend getting my AWD Vibe prepared for Supercharging:1) I installed a TRD Oil Catch Reservoir. What this will do is prevent any oil from the Oil Breather Tube from entering the intake while boosting.2) I installed an additional transmission cooler to the front of the radiator. Our stock transmission cooler sits between the radiator and the cooling fan. This will help the auto transmission stay cooler when it shifts while boosting. I had to remove the fan completely and loosen the stock transmission cooler and tilt it as close to the engine as possible to have access to the back side of the radiator to put the locks on the zip ties.3) I am also in the process of lowering my AWD. I am using Hotchkis Springs only because of the higher rear spring rate. This will help prevent the rear of the car from being lower than the front. Which will happen with a lot of other springs on an AWD due to the independent rear suspension. I only have the fronts done so far due to the fact that the lower rear shock bolts are practically welded on. I am having a local shop loosen them in the morning so I can finish it up tomorrow. 4) I replaced my blue Megan Strut Tower Brace with a polished silver one instead. My engine mods were all ending up silver so I had to change it to match. That's it for now. More to come later in the week.

Other than the Springs its not much $$ really:Oil Catch Reservoir = $20Tranny Cooler = $35Megan Strut Brace = $35Hotchkis Springs = $170All the mods I an doing are items that I had been purchasing since last November. A little here and there. There is no way I'd be getting this stuff all at once. I just wait and look for what I think are good deals.

I suppose the springs are one of the most expensive parts..... oh yeah, and the SUPERCHARGER!!!

Ha, Ha, smart guy. That is the single most expensive thing I will ever buy for the Vibe. But, it was a steal and I couldn't pass it up and I am still paying for it.

Coming along nicely! The picture of the front springs only looks like you are braking really hard while not moving.

Supposed to be 1-1/2" front and 1-1/8" rear. But the front dropped 2" and i'm guessing the rear will probably end up around 1-1/2" drop
