Getting my hands on a factory XM system...

Post by ragingfish »

I'm hoping I can get one of the guys who works at a pontiac dealership to answer this question for me. I want to get a in-dash XM receiver like is availabe in the current Sunfire models. I have sent e-mails to pontiac SPO and acdelco to find out what part numbers to have my dealer order, and they tell me they can't help me. i don't wanna get one of them XM receivers that doesn't look factory installed. i don't care as much about quality as i do about the factory installed look, which is why i'm trying to get a delco xm receiver over a third-party brand. can someone tell me (A) if the vibe can take this head unit, and (B) what part numbers I need to order to get the head unit, the receiver/decoder, and the antenna? thanks all!

What is the major drawback about not having a factory head unit? You will still have to do some fabrication to mount the antenna and the receiver if they use one. Plus the price will be many times more than an aftermarket one.

the antenna will be a snap, and someone else gave me the idea of hiding the receivier under the rear bench...i'd rather have a factory installed unit because it is far less likely to attract a burglar...they tend to go for aftermarket systems rather than factory..plus, if i get a new head unit, it won't fill the whole recess, so there will be extra space...plus, i dont' wanna have to find room for a new control module...would rather it all be in one nifty little package...
