Hi all...our local Crappy Tire has a sale on their LXR tires. Now that my Contis are shot (they've been bad sice about 25,000 mi) I 'm looking at replacing them but they tires that are on sale do not come in the original Contis size I've got now.My Vibe is a 2003, base model with 16" wheels. Here's what they've got available in the LXR series, which one would you go with?P195/60R15P205/75R15P205/70R15P205/65R15P205/60R15P215/75R15P215/70R15P215/65R15P215/60R15P215/65R16P215/60R16P225/60R16Appreciate any info...thanksAlex
well, first off, since you've got 16" wheels, you're limited to the last three, the others are for 15" wheels, and can not be made to fit on your current wheels. There's a sticky thread in this forum about tire size calculators, it can tell you what sort of speedometer errors you can expect to get from using different size tires. My tires are 205/55R16. Using one of those calculators, those 16" tire sizes you listed could make your speedometer run slow by 3 to 5 %, so if you want a better match in size, then maybe you'll need to pick a different brand or a different tire shopThere is also some good general tire size and rating information at http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=7087 It explains what the significance of the tire size numbers are.
Hi guys...thanks to all of you for getting back to me on this, I really appreciate it. Maybe it's just me but from what I've seen, this size doesn't seem to be as popular, at least not in places that I frequent. In any case, now I know what to look for. Thanks again to all of you..
go with bf goodrich TRACTION TA V rated when they go on sale at crappy tire. they are wha im going with when my original rsa's are gone. check out the ratings anywhere on the traction ta's
Bought the BF Goodrich traction TA's 2 weeks ago at S@#rs for $97 a peace. Went there to buy Michelen Pilot's which were on sale, but of coase the smaller ones were $86. The ones I needed, 205 55R 16 were $114 ea. Well I blinked and got the BF goodrich. Not a bad tire, strange though BF goodrich does not recomend this tire for the Vibe. In fact they, BFGoodrich, recomended the Michelin Pilots! Wonder why? I just hope I didn't just void my warenty by getting them.
