Post by QualityPontiac »

Anyone go for the aftermarket cruise control on the mods page? I am curious about the price and or difficulty of installation. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

I did a search for "post bodies" containing the word "rostra" and found a two threads where people have used that kit. slingblade thought it was great in http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=9548Dickster had a question about it in http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=3160 , looks like the question went unanswered until somebody accidentally replied to it six months later

Are 05's wiring the same as 04? (the only info states 04)

it could be a problem using that kit on an 05. Some cruise controls tie in by mechanically moving the throttle cable to adjust engine speed. All but the early 05's supposedly have "drive by wire", which means that the throttle is electronic instead of mechanical. I don't know how the Rostra kit works, so can't say for sure, but unless someone knows for sure, probably best to assume that it does not work on an 05, unless the 05 is one of the ones that has a throttle cable. cruise is an option on the 2005 models, so it can be done, but I don't know if the Rostra kit will work, or if they have a different kit number for the '05'sIt would be good if there were pictures on the Vibe engine bay that showed what the cable throttle and the drive by wire throttle looked like, so people could tell which they had.
