I am going to be getting my first oil change and I am wanting to know what oil is recommended for my 05 gt. Should I use synthetic or regular?Mobil 1 or another brand?I do know that different oils have different cleaning detergents in them and it is not a bad idea to alternate oils. Anywho, a little friendly advice is greatly appreciated.
Stay with what is recommended for your engine type. If you stray away from that, use a full synthetic oil and you have a problem with your engine, they may blame it on the oil that you used and not cover the work under warranty.

LOVE THAT VIBE 2003 Satilite Silver auto.......188,000kms.2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer White 4.2 Inline 6 291hp auto.........156,000kms.
5w30 and stay with dino for a while. It takes that engine a long time to really break in. Penzoil and Havoline/Chevron are good choices. Changing brands is not a good idea though I do it all the time to experiment . They may have different additives that form a boundry layer on the metal and when you change the chemistry it will have to start over. For clean, just change more often. 3k to 4k on the GT. I didn't care fore Mobil one. It was louder than other oils and doesn't show any wear advantages to the oils I recommended but will last longer.
Vibe GT, TRD springs, Progress bar, STB, Unichip, Borbet E 16x7.5, 225/50 Bridgestone RE750, beefed up grounds and battery bypass capacitors(had em laying around)

Well I got my oil changed and decided to go with the mobil1. The whole change was only 35 bucks. I am hoping that I will feel a difference. My mechanic claims that I can go about 4k before an oil change with using mobil1. Any thoughts on the matter?
Straight from the "mobil 1" rep's mouth."You can go 10k miles on a mobil 1 synthetic oil change, but we still recommend changing it every 3-4k miles. Just like regular oil." This was back when i was working at a gm dealer with thier oil life sensors sometimes not alerting drivers till near 10k miles after. I work at a honda dealer now and they tell us on any honda to put 3,750 miles for the next oil change. On any type of oil. I use Mobil 1 and since i can i do the changes myself. Costs me about $25 when i use a toyota factory filter. Which i recommend doing. Especially on the 2zz motor.
